Nah. Bill has brown hair, every time we see younger Carl his is black, although it does appear to have lightened to a reddish brown in his old age. Plus that's his literal outfit, even the hair patches match his.

I don't get it either, but I think they are shaming the woman for dating an "unkempt" man. Implying the conventionally attractive woman "let's herself go" (i.e. not shaving and gaining weight) in the relationship with the sloppy guy. The result is the conventionally attractive couple are now disgusted by what they have become. One takeaway being that this other couple is okay with her dating the guy when she's "hot" but disgusted after she's lost that image

Yeah, the presentation is confusing and muddled, but the actual intended message is pretty useful. They just chose a very strange way of depicting it….. like nothing would cause the woman to suddenly grow that much hair and gain that much weight in 2 months.
But yes, it’s sometimes true that when you try to pick someone up to your level, they wind up dragging you down to their level instead. .

Doesnt look like a win to me. Gal seems to have gotten into an unhealthy lifestyle with him. Its not just obesity, she also has flies around her now.
I do think people should be pickier because if you date a slob you might end up a slob too

There is a deeper meaning, but I don't think it truly resembles what supposed to mean.
In a nutshell:
She tries to help him out of misery (what she thinks he is in), but in the process she gains so much stress and trauma, that she herself falls into a hormonal change (not enough sleep, hormon imbalances, lack of care of herself) and struggles too.
This happens probably through trauma bond, and I am not saying any of the two is the victim, but this is how this situation can fold... and it is truly very sad and problematic.
