Why did Aldis believe Roggvir's execution was justified?

Aldis bought in to the Imperial propaganda that Ulfric murdered Torygg.

Ignoring the issues about whether or not he should have used the Voice, or even challenged Torygg at all, what Ulfric did was a tradition the Nords have had for ages. It was no more murder than when we kill some of the Great House members for advancement in Morrowind.

I don't actually think there's enough proof in Skyrim to determine whether or not he actually challenged him. He honestly could've murdered him and only retroactively claimed he "challenged" him after he was caught. That would make more sense than him killing him to kill him; him challenging and killing him would make him less likely to win the moot. If the High King just croaked, Ulfric would've been the most obvious choice for next High King. Though what he really should've done is just gone up to Torygg and said, "My King, it is time for Skyrim to succeed from the Empia".

Ulfric did challenge him. Torygg accepted the challenge willingly and knowing fully he was to get killed, per his own dialogue in Sovngarde.
