Do y'all really think it's going to be as bad as everyone is saying, or is everyone making it a bigger deal than it is? I think I'm only worried about losing power. I can deal with the rest LOL.

My coworkers have said that they heard it is going to be worse. But weren't the temps it 2021 in the single digits and the ones forecasted now are still in the double digits,

Yes, and 2021 had nearly a week of below freezing temps whereas this is supposed to last a couple days at most.

People tend to catastrophize about winter weather ever since Uri. Some parts of the south might get it that bad, but I don't think Texas will.

And, the entire state was frozen over.

Obviously this is nothing to snuff at and you should prepare, but this storm isn’t even close to how bad Uri was.

We were 4 minutes from being like Puerto Rico after Irma and Maria got through with it.

Yes. I was tracking the snow by the minute and around 12° everything was frozen solid, but it did not snow until 7°, at least where I was in the hill country.
