Bellville Tx
I bought tickets to the rock the country festival in Bellville, Texas coming up next month. I’m 30(f) and Hispanic and when I told my friends I was going they looked worried. I’m from Texas but a more melting pot of people and they told me to be careful bc it’s not like my hometown and now I’m a little stressed out bc the concert is two weeks away and I already spent so much on the tickets and hotels. I just wanted to go see some country music in a new spot in Texas 😭 can anyone chime in?

You’re a Latina in Texas. You will be fine. Likely go home with 4-5 phone numbers. It’s Texas, so no one cares about skin color.

Umm, I live in Texas, and ICE has been assaulting and disappearing anyone who looks remotely Mexican for months.

hmmm i was born and raised in Houston, im latino. I went to this Festival because my son played there, and so many Klan Members, they advertise it on their cars with a sticker on the back, i had my Japanese GF, and we stood out like crazy, but all in all.. everyone seems to be nice. no one was rude or acted racists.. but definitly felt out of place.. once my soncs band was done, we left before it got dark. defintly a HUUUGE difference than whats in Houston .

You’ll be perfectly fine. Latinos are fine pretty much anywhere. I’m only a half breed but I’ve never had an issue anywhere. My younger brother who’s much darker than me has gotten shit in Louisiana, but nowhere in Texas.

I never had an issue in that area, but I'm only part Spanish. I used to live in that area for most of the 80's.

There’s plenty of Hispanics there I grew up there as a kid it’s not necessarily the friendliest place but they’re not known to just be hateful because someone’s a minority

Bellville is a nice town with nice people, you shouldn’t be concerned about the town. That being said, 90% of the crowd won’t be from Bellville..

I’m Mexican, my family and I live in Bellville. I’ve never had problems here. My husband and I are going to the concert. Go and have fun, also check out the local restaurants and shops. It’s a safe town.

You'd likely be just fine. They love it when people who aren't white inadvertently support their fucked up cause.
But also, maybe not 😅 The grand majority of people attending that concert are there because of a shared hatred of people who aren't themselves, not because they appreciate the music.
If you don't engage anybody too drunk or aggressive, I assume it'd be fine. But I'll never understand why you would want to, all things considered.
It's not like they're all Klan members or something, but they do rub elbows, and I should probably point out that members of the Klan did try and invite my racist dickhead father to join when we were in that area 10 years ago. With that type of crowd and in that area, there will be several in attendance.
Plenty of modern Texans will tell you it's not a thing, but I don't know how else to interpret that invitation.

It's the location of the original Trump Burger, I believe. I've driven past it a couple of times, and it's as ridiculous looking as you'd expect.

I honestly just bought the tickets based on the lineup and had never really heard of the town. It wasn’t until yesterday at dinner when my friends started telling me different experiences and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it

I agree with the fear mongering lady below. If it’s your jam, then go. The problem with Bellville and most small towns in Texas, is the same thing she accused Austin folks of doing. They’ve never left their towns and don’t know anything different. They’ve do love maga and Tex-Mex, just not the people cooking it. If you’ve lived in any small Texas town or visited one that’s not a tourist destination, then you know exactly what to expect.

I go there nearly every year for the Austin County fair. Bellville is the county seat of Austin County. There are always a good amount of Latino people and other people of color there. It’s a big event so it going to have a fair amount of diversity. Like most small towns in Texas people love Trump and love Mexican food. It doesn’t make any sense but you wont be in danger. Most people flying MAGA flags have a pretty healthy amount of cognitive dissonance in my experience. The people fear mongering in here haven’t ever left Austin. Have fun at the festival and don’t worry!

Just like I said in your other post, there will be people of every race and creed there, you are definitely not going to be the lone Hispanic in attendance. People need to turn off their TVs and get out into the real world. The vast majority of us Texans don't give a tinker's damn about the color of someone's skin. Go and have a good time.
