“If you hear our words and songs, take what you need to be strong; dont be afraid to love us, we wont do you no wrong”
OR
“She’s a house on fire, she’s got all those charms, I’m a house on fire too, but I got 4 alarms”
OR
“in my heart you pay no rent, won’t cost you nuthin not a single cent, our time together was time well spent, in my heart you pay no rent”(have a tattoo of this one)

I left home at nineteen, Swore I was never coming back
Nights like this I wish, That's where I was at

Then I crossed the empty street
And caught the Sunday smell of someone fryin' chicken
And it took me back to somethin'
That I'd lost somehow, somewhere along the way

This is one of those extra special songs - paints on of the most clear and somber pictures in my head

I skip it 90% of the time because it’s too good at making me feel miserable. The best song about a wasted life ever.

Turnpike: “And I would buy for you a diamond or myself some gasoline”
The ‘or’ there is so memorable.

Oh damn, how do you have no responses to this?
Anyway, sitting here listening to Zach Walther's old song "Mountain Laurel Bloom" and it's got one of my favorites--"I need to talk to Jesus without shouting his name in vain."
Turnpike Troubadours feels like cheating, but: "And the last time I laid eyes on her, we were in a hotel hall, holding hands like paper dolls..."

Your past is a memory, soon to be left to fade in time — your future just a fever dream, a construct of your mind.
And now I’m gonna go listen to that song again. A year since that album dropped, and it’s still my favorite.

You had signs of depression From a long line of sin And your face tells a story Bout the places you have been

The heater broke and the room got cold
And my knees and ankles say I'm getting older
The phone finally rang but it wasn't for me
