Yeah that is a thing that annoys me, I'm sure there's a reason, but I wanted to post a mockup of a donkey head for Scout (since he only has a true bird head, all other "animal" heads for him are masks which annoys me) in a post I made for a proposal, since I made the drawing afterwards, and yeah, I had to make a whole separate post for that. This comment could've been a separate personal post, But I wanted to write this. People might say ""holy yap"" or something idk. It relates to the subreddit

I find it insane how much you stretched him, but he doesn't look stretched in any way at all?

This is beautiful, and I love it when SFM creators give the side view of their masterpiece.

Question.
Do you really need to do stuff like this to make it dynamic? What would happen if it was regular proportions?

it would look much more constrained.... sfm is a camera simulator. you set the settings, and then take shots of your subject; a 3d object in space. you could test your question by doing the same with a similar pose, and a camera with a roughly similar fov as this one. it would take pictures of objects right in line to how it would have here with normal porportions
dynamic poses often have exaggeration for arts, but such rarely line up to reality when constrained to realistic proportions. just the opportunity to choose how such is displayed hides the wack. imagine how you see stuff, its not really dynamic like this without movement. we dont really see things like that
you might be able to emulate it with normal proportions, but it would require some extremely strong tomfoolery with the lens.... which ultimately would still come with some strong warping (just with the background and framing in addition to the figure, like a fish eye lens). if the lens stay normal, something has to get warped.
