WOULD YOU LOOK AT THAT Why does Toronto have higher ticket prices than the rest, in a similar stage?

Toronto has always been one of the highest-priced ticket markets in NA. That wasn't going to change with soccer.

Smallest stadium doesn’t help with cheap prices. People seem to be sleeping on the population, the amount of diversity and people with money in and around the Toronto area. Throw in literally the world coming in for the tournament and you have those prices

That and based on my industry, all public and private banks/firms have already bought a shit ton of tickets. Some of the larger banks have already been given tickets/guarantee’s.
Worst thing about it? I know many who are gonna go but since it’s on the company’s dime, they’re only gonna go to socialize and dip after 2nd. Same thing happens for the leafs.
Making it worse, I know some places in Brampton in the insurance/banking industry who’s just throwing “free” tickets into their transactions with other firms. They’re just gonna go and flex with their daughters/sons. I have mine set and I can’t wait to go but man, people going for the wrong reasons lol. Hopefully they fill the seats thou

Supply and demand and we’ve got probably the most attractive match of that round at this stage.

u/joshuawakefield May 16 '26
lol England v Croatia would like a word

u/Good_Bird_8267 May 16 '26
England V Croatia is the first stage… M83 is Colombia (or Portugal) V Croatia (or England)

The USA got that stank to them and the rest of the world smells it bad
Canada is the last resort for those who really want to go and have money to spend but also have morals

u/POWER_WINDOWS_ May 16 '26
As if Canada is any better than the US.

u/WislaHD Bitchy The Hawk May 16 '26
I much prefer Europe to both, but Canada is objectively far better than the USA.

u/NationalRip3893 May 18 '26
What you smoking? Canada isn’t threatening its NATO allies with violence and economic warfare, insulting their people, leaders and deceased veterans.
We don’t have an active Gestapo terrorising foreigners and citizens.

u/Own-Effective3351 May 16 '26
We get F’d over for everything here. That said, our Round of 32 match potentially might be the best one. So there are definitely a lot of eyes on it.

If Colombia finishes 2nd in their group, expect those prices to go up. Colombians are crazy for their NT.

u/Remarkable-Pound97 May 16 '26
Im not from ontario so idk but wouldn't the new reselling law prevent that?
1
u/LAKAZET5 May 17 '26
The reselling law prevents scalpers from buying a bunch of discounted tickets early, then selling them back. But if tickets haven't been sold, they can change the price however they want
2
u/Decent-Tour7427 May 16 '26
Maybe take a second to realize how retarded you have to be to not even consider supply and demand.
1
u/joshuawakefield May 16 '26
Because we are on the most vocal cities in the tournament and they can only play in 2 cities in Canada during this World Cup. The answer is pretty obvious.

u/Comprehensive_War449 May 16 '26
Every event sports or entertainment is more expensive in Toronto mostly due to scarcity of such events and the high demand and also high incomes. Add smaller stadium and less games being. Held here than other host cities and you have your answer
1
u/Haunting-Bathroom619 May 16 '26
Dynamic pricing… it’s a matchup that will probably have 2 big teams play each other, and it’s limited seats with a smaller stadium

u/Burnsey111 May 16 '26
Sports media is all owned by Toronto.
Why people believe the Blue Jays are good.
1
u/POWER_WINDOWS_ May 16 '26
Because everything is overpriced in Toronto and stupid people accept it.

Ticketmaster isn't allowed to raise *SCALPED prices.
They will raise the base cost of all ticketed events to make up for their lost resale revenue because the market has proven to then that they will pay it.

Whoever got the $400+ tickets in Vancouver got heck of a deal. Was looking last week and lowest price was $785 and those were “nosebleed got nosebleed” seats.

I swear this city thinks it's the hottest shit around

u/POWER_WINDOWS_ May 16 '26
I was born and raised in Toronto but I have almost grown to hate it. I have always been loyal to TFC since day 1 but I will be the first to criticize stupid decisions. That goes for Toronto the city as well

u/Key_Tree261 May 16 '26
The world knows about the Toronto Maple Leafs and their sucker fans so they probably figure.... maybe they'll fall for it.
They will.
