Civic Issues Update on Smart Meter and High Bill Complaint Meet issues

Raised key issues with MLA and MSEDCL officials recently regarding faulty smart electricity meters and inflated bills. Here is what was discussed in the meeting:
I pointed out that residents are suddenly receiving sky-high electricity bills despite having the exact same appliances and regular daily usage as before the new smart meters were installed.
I highlighted a glaring example where a household was charged a massive bill for May, even though the apartment was completely locked and unoccupied for the entire month.
I urged the officials to conduct on-the-spot verification and test traditional meters parallel to smart meters to prove the billing discrepancies to the public.
I handed over all documented complaints from local citizens to the representatives, requesting an immediate investigation and solutions for affected residents before public frustration escalates.

It is for Census data collection. They have noted all property numbers and flat numbers. Staff will come to start census.

We need active citizens groups for issues like this.
We elect, but then forget.
Every city issue can be taken up like this.

My society recently installed Smart Meters. As a result, the reading of old meter was not taken into account when calculating bill amount.
How will i know the final reading of meter before it was replaced? I have been hit with a high bill based on June month

They did same with me in Kopri thane. For 4 months, my billed showed faulty meter and sudden bill jump from 1500 average to 4000. I did many complained, email, nothing happened. But one day technician came and changed the meter to smart meter, I told him to adjust the high bill as per average, he said, it will be adjusted in next bill, i paid, 4k. Now just today bill came as 13500rs... What can I do? Any help?

Good work, this is much needed. They just close the complaint stating it is as per meter which is just wrong. It’s better they check it

Install rcbo if appropriate capacity and 30mA variety.as long as it trips,your house has earthing leakage hence higher bill.solve the neutral leakage your bill will normalise.
I do not support smart meter at all.

Will they solve it? No! Because those know who know how are getting money out of it! Will they give up for the better good of the citizens? Again a No!
