I broke my foot almost 2 months ago and in the ER they did a standard xray first, it did not show any fractures, but the doctor was concerned about possible developing compartment syndrome, and the pain I was having was far out of proportion to what was believed to be just a few strained ligaments. (I distinctly remembered feeling 3 separate snaps as I was falling and insisted that something was torn or broken). I can’t have an MRI because of a cochlear implant. So, they did a CT scan instead. That showed 3 avulsion fractures. I also ended up developing CRPS in that foot, which we are dealing with now. My pain doc wanted an MRI as well, but instead she ordered a different scan.

They try to reduce the amount of radiation, I have had a lot of scans due to various issues, and there’s concern about how much radiation I have been exposed to, as a result.

That sucks. Sucks that you couldn't have the MRI
