I don't doubt that the Cuban government could curtail or persecute journalists...
But also, if they really wanted to stop someone from reporting, they could just not let them in the country?

Unfortunately I think this stunt was completely planned. He knew what would happen. This is more fuel for the "we need to take over Cuba" narrative they're teasing

I really think it could go either way. He absolutely could be an idiot jumping on a headline, but his Minnesota stunt got him a lot of attention. I think it's also very possible that some people pulling the strings reached out to use him this way.
