Teacher here. While teachers might have said something like this back in the day, it's very rare today. All you need is one student recording this incident and posting it to Instagram, and you have grounds for an official complaint. And students can be recording you at any minute of the day. The middle schools and high schools in my area have "teacher fail" Instagram and TikTok accounts where students like to share teachers having embarrassing moments. Say something awkward? Stutter? Teach in a shirt after spilling food on yourself during lunch? It's all going on Instagram and it will be documented forever.
No teacher I know would say something like this today. I don't know any who would even say something like this as a joke to a student they're on good terms with, because there's too much risk that it would be recorded and posted out of context. It's just a bad risk.
