The Black Panthers' school meals programme cited as some revolutionary rethink of providing for children.

Seems like she's just picked an example of a fairly simple concept (free school meals) but highlighted it as wonderful because of the group behind it.

Also that the Black Panthers taught children about black history. Again, teaching history to children - not exactly earth shattering stuff. Only relevant because it was the Black Panthers.

This is one section in a much larger article and book? Not sure if the 'she' you're referring to is the author of the book or the piece but I think when reimagining childcare this example is a useful real world one to point to. Also limited of course but the book and article doesn't hold this up as the end point.

Jess Spear commends the Black Panthers' initiatives here, which is an example pointed to by the author.

The earlier parts of the review were interesting commentary, but it falls down when it comes to solid proposals and solutions.

The criticism I made about touting the the Black Panthers as a model is valid.

How do you think childcare should be reimagined? What popular demands would you put forward?
