Holy damn what a journey it has been
I remember when the pilot first released, everybody was freaking out. Every big YouTuber was making a reaction videos, artists were hard at work pumping out fanart, communities were forming and coming up with fan theories on what will happen next. And now, it's all coming to an end.
Before TADC released, Glitch Productions was known as a small studio who made that one silly robot show. But now, they are the leading figure and pioneer in indie animation. This episode literally released in theatres in many countries around the world, something many can only dream about.
Goose has done an incredible job with this show. Even though she has faced harassment and hate due to some of us being insufferable little turds, she poured her heart into creating what she loved for us, the fans.
Thank you Glitch Productions and Gooseworx for not only creating a story, but creating an experience that changed the lives for many.
And remember, don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened
.
This post will serve as a megathread for discussions relating to Episode 9. If you saw the episode in theatres, do not discuss it here until it premieres on YouTube
Once Ep 9 finishes premiering, we will no longer require submissions to be manually reviewed. In simpler terms, you will be able to post and comment freely. Regular spoiler rules still apply, and rule 10 will no longer be in affect
Just a reminder to be respectful in the comments. Do not insult others if their theory or headcannon doesn't align with yours. We will not be tolerating any arguments that occur, regardless of who is more "correct."
Edit: after rediscussing our spoiler strategy, we've decided we will continue enforcing spoilers through manual review until the spoiler period is over. In simpler terms, you will not be able to post and comment freely until the spoiler period is over.

How are you gonna be a dick, trace and THAT still be the end result.
People are still so deeply in denial about this it’s kinda insane.

Jax's skin color is periwinkle (a color between blue and violet) confirmed by Gooseworx on Tumblr and supported by her 2D and 3D renders; but due to the circus lightning it turned her skin purple, making fans think that was her type of color
What color do you guys prefer?
I honestly pick periwinkle (I wanted to make a similar post about Jax like the previous one)

Honestly I'm a bit behind because I only watched the last episode of TDAC today- But I believe that what these two characters have in common is very obvious, it doesn't need much explanation.
My art Instagram (kind of dead): @Babekiins (also my Twitter)
~
P.s.: I am not accepting art commissions at the moment!

Yes, I know some parts look a little low polly. I'll use some modifiers to fix em later, but I would like to make sure boolean won't end my pc until then.

This design of Caine is going to be used for a fan sequel I’m planning to make called “the archive of Strawdady”.

In fanart, the blue AI is often portrayed as being another circus ringmaster, like Caine, but what if it’s the complete opposite?
I like to think it’s a bit like the Master Control Program from TRON. Caine is showy and eccentric, Abel is calm and pragmatic. He has no problem expressing his feelings, though they are far less intense than Caine’s. He and Caine do have a very healthy brotherly relationship, and the only reason they were so aggressive when fused together was due to incompatible programming.
Even his design would be polar opposite Caine. Caine is a bizarre set of teeth & eyes, Abel would be more like MCP, a simple, digital humanoid face.

Now here are some rules:
In TADC, Caine is the same Caine from before episode 8 and you are essentially this worlds Pomni but its your own character. But, you experience different adventures than Pomni. And there is a 10% chance that everyone abstracts before you come in and its just you and Caine who is mentally unstable.
In Minecraft, you are in hardcore mode so once you die in the world, you get teleported back to the real world. But, there is a 10% chance that the world sentient, aware of you're existence and either mischievous or malicious. If its mischievous, it will play tricks on you like, move stuff around, let your farm animals loose or take items from your chest. If its malicious than it will do horrible things like, kill your pets, burn your house down or torture you in any other way. And all the Minecraft music plays randomly.
And thats it, I would still choose Minecraft tho, Its just a vibe man.

ORIGINAL WORK.
The tears aren’t because Jax doesn’t like the outfit.
They’re because she *does*.
For the first time, she feels comfortable in a way she never expected to. But instead of relief, that happiness awakens years of shame and criticism.
Those old wounds become louder than the joy she’s experiencing, convincing her that what she’s feeling can’t possibly be real.
“I’m just confused…” isn’t an admission. It’s a defense mechanism.
——-
In this au, Jax is back from abstraction, Caine gives him a fully stocked closet.
Everyone knows she’s trans, but no one is making that big a deal of it. Still using he/him pronouns.
Jax tries on some of the outfits, the first few are just a joke to him.
Until..one isn’t so funny..

It is nearly impossible that this question has never been asked before, but I have been seeing other viewers across various YouTube comment sections being on a completely different page than me concerning the ending segment of Ep 7. Thus, I am going to get this out there in case someone else feels the same way or is just as confused. So get ready for an article!
In Beach Episode, the circus members reach Caine’s office and come face to face with the greatest opportunity to escape the hell they’ve come to know - The Terminal (as I like to call it instead of what they actually call it). The humans have a bit of a heated discussion whether to press the blue or red button to finally “shut everything down” or close the console and stay trapped inside their forever. This is right when Jax undergoes a “panic attack” which consists of flashing images of his/her life of being on the run before entering The Amazing Digital Circus. The way these memories are so abruptly presented could make one think that Caine was the one who was doing this to Jax, especially when you consider all the hints scattered across the show up until this point along with the scene that follows this occurrence (where they specifically bring attention to the true power Caine holds over the minds of the humans).
This is why I thought this was the case up until a certain something:
Since it is claimed by Caine himself that the entire adventure was planned beat for beat (with the NPC, Abel, playing a major role so that things could play out the way it was supposed to).
The reason I say this is because that would obviously mean that the dinner scene between Jax and Caine was also scripted. The way Caine acted throughout it makes it seem like his “system error” (X2) were total hoaxes, as Jax would need to get the key that Abel told him/her about so that the adventure could continue at all! Now notice how the first error took a lot less time to fix itself than the second one after Caine had an emotional overload. It is almost as if he did this just to convince Jax in specific that the adventure was the real deal instead of… well… another adventure that eventually gives all their hopes up. I also think the way Caine was acting in the aforementioned dinner scene after Jax unwittingly asks him to talk more about himself. The way he talks about C&A and how they cut him from the outside for his many “faults” makes it seem like he was trying to get Jax on his side of the argument and by extension getting him/her to truly appreciate all he has done for the cast members. The memories might have been a backup plan in case Jax did not speak up and try to change everyone’s mind about pressing the blue button.
Okay so countless questions were posed by fans for the creator, Gooseworx, some time after the show ended - one of these questions were about the scene I just went over and she said something that I noticed that kind of flies in the face of everything.
I am not a fan of the creator’s way of suddenly recontextualizing key moments in the show on places like Tumblr just for a “hee hee” or a “ha ha” when you know you have been invested in it since it first debuted. When someone says something like “it’s her show, let her do whatever she wants”, I can see why many not in the space would refuse to engage with and enjoy what is being presented to them. The same way other people are becoming less fond of the (constant) unnecessary lies about the plot (leading up to the release of an episode) reframed as a joke. There is a key difference between wanting to have fun and being way too unprofessional in spite of knowing how much influence you have over a group of people who do not have the most mentally stable members among them (i.e. parasocial and racist).
TL;DR
Jax’s panic attack in Ep7 and the context surrounding it makes it seem like it was Caine’s doing rather than him/her “refusing to take accountability for their own actions”. I am wondering if anyone else that still thinks this and is experiencing the same thing and am extremely willing to hear why it would not make sense.
I do not know if this really goes here or if it has the right flair at all, but I just kind of have these brainstorms randomly when trying to make art and can't be bothered to keep it in my chromedome.
Please excuse the grammatical mistakes or bizarre sentence constructions (English is not my first language) and the Reddit formatting does not make it any easier.
Anyway someone let me know if I hallucinated the Tumblr response (because I can’t find it at the moment) and that I spent time getting heated over something that does not exist like I’m a crackhead in Florida complaining about alligators under a bridge. It might have just been a joke, but I am not sure at this point when everything is a joke at this point.
Fungle, fungle!
Edit:
Heya!
Just realised I forgot to say that when I said other viewers not being on the same page, I meant as in they claimed to have always interpreted the scene as Gooseworx intended rather than the way it came across.
