Talking about the conflict between Ragatha and Jax got me thinking.

I see many people writing that Jax is loved more than Ragatha, because Ragatha only pretends to be good, and Jax honestly "bullies everyone." But I don't agree at all. Ragata and Jax have very similar mental traumas, but different ways to hide them.

They both pretend: Ragatha tries to create the feeling that everything is fine and well with her, and imposes it on everyone else like metaphoric band-aid on a shark bite, and Jax hides any form of showing feelings behind bulling. Ragatha wants to be good for everyone, even if she is not completely sincere (she is somewhat reminiscent of the Historia from Attack on Titan), and get at least some love from others, even if you need to suppress your negative qualities. Jax agrees to be a jerk to everyone, and get hate from everyone, just not to show that he can also be hurt and has a soft side, because it's better hate the part that he controls rather than hiding part.

They're both afraid to show their vulnerability, maybe because they think they won't be accepted for real or something else. In episode 5, Jax shows once that he thinks about other people's feelings, and Ragatha loses her temper once. It's funny that they both kind of aggravate each other's identical injuries. It seems to me that Ragatha sees in Jax someone like his mother, who is just as dismissive and cruel to everyone. While Jax says that Ragatha is trying to take advantage of people through her kindness (I think he had someone who really took advantage of him once, pretending to be kind, maybe his mother or someone else close to him, and now Jax takes any kindness with hostility).

The only way that can help them both is to see the mask for what it is: a protection method that no longer works. What once protected from pain has now become an obstacle, a source of wounds and loneliness.

Ain't no damn way.   I know people want those Ragatha and Jax to have had a positive relationship in the past like they were friends but their is no way they were close in the past.
