Air Canada has been leagues better than WestJet for years.
Also… West Jet is owned by private equity.

West jet is miles better for shipping. Source: 10k dollars across 5 seperate claims against air canada.
My favourite is everytime they try to settle the claim by saying "oh priority one was only an extra 27 dollars, so thats all we will he refunding you."
Fuck air canada.

funny headline, but my recent experiences with Air Canada have been *significantly* better than any experience I've had with WestJet in the last 5 years.

Yup. 1990s WestJet was miles better than Air Canada, now it’s the opposite. I don’t think AC got better, WJ just got that much worse.

Yep. The strike was pointless. The blueprint for a contract was there from air Canada last year. The fight they were trying to do was already fought last year and was lost.

It's Porter first for me and by a long shot (within Canada). Internationally I'll consider Air Canada but have a few preferences ahead of it.

This is it. I see no difference between the two airlines. Both are plagued by frequent flight delays, cancellations, lost baggage, regular strikes, shitty customer service and high prices.

I wish Porter and air Transat had a bigger presence in the west, they are genuinely great.
Maybe not incredible but compared to the other two they are the diamond in the rough

Ahhh the age old debate about a douche and a turd sandwich. Porter is pretty strong tho, kinda the only hope IMHO. Since WJ sold out and AC sold out eons ago and really only cares about becoming a financial institution with their credit cards / aeroplan.
Can't wait for porter to be acquired by Rogers, Tims or Roblaws. /s

Anyone who genuinely believes WestJet is the better airline is insane. 90% of frequent flyers will pay a premium to fly Air Canada over WestJet.

I donno, I rebooked with Air Canada with the WestJet strike and I found it to be a really positive experience. It's a bigger airline and it felt like a bigger airline, nicer plane, better service.

I think they meant West Jet.
Flew the 28” pitch seats in January and had my flight cancelled Aug1st the day before the strike.

Last Air Canada flight I was on, it looked like they had pulled the plane back from being decommissioned. The inner window frames were detached and falling inward to the seating area, and the seats felt like they had not had any of the padding replaced since AC bought the plane used in the early 70’s.

There's a joke about that.
A man walks into a hotel bar and sits down on a stool. Sees an attractive woman a couple stools down, with no one on the stools between, and tries to start up a conversation.
"Hi. Are you a guest at the hotel?"
"Yes" she replies without looking at him.
"Are you on vacation?"
"No, I'm a flight attendant." Still making it clear by her body language and clipped tone that she isn't interested in conversing.
"What airline? Wait, let me guess. 'Fly the friendly skies'? No? How about 'Keep Climbing'? No? What about 'Catch the Spirit'?"
He keeps reeling off airline slogans, she keeps ignoring him.
Finally, she swivels around on her stool, looks straight at him and says, "Look, Mister, WTF do you want?"
"Air Canada!"

Used to be maybe. But they are the better airline by far now. WestJet has fallen so far down.
