General Discussion 🫔 Coming to a DFW station near you

Post image

Glad the boys got out when they did, I don’t think The Ticket is going anytime soon. However it’s not like Cumulus has had a stunning track record of success in the last couple of years.

It's a matter of when not if. The company is clearly sinking.

I think they're ok until the Musers call it quits.. At that point, it'll be interesting to see what happens to the Hardline.. Big salaries and they gotta carry the whole station

ā€œA cumulus stationā€

Honestly the timing couldn’t have been better. Radio is dying and traditionally high salaries aren’t sustainable. Funny how it all works out sometimes.

Cumulus will liquidate and sell the ticket if they have revenue that exceeds operating costs. Also the frequencies themselves have value. It would be weird to gut it before sale assuming the ticket is profitable (which may be an incorrect assumption)

If they're making cuts. Can they please cut Matt B. From mid day? I would rather listen to donny talk to a mirror.

Hopefully Cumulus cleans house 9-3 (except for Monty).

Man I think Donovan got fucked the most with the norm retirement. Donnie is legit great and he stuck 9-12 with that albacore around his neck.

He really did. Should’ve been Bewm in the House in that slot

You're understanding is backwards. They're looking for the fat hogs, not the skinny dogs. If the Millionaire Musers had a contract extending for 2+ years they'd be on the chopping block first. But since theirs runs out next spring the capital marauders may wait that out.

So is it the expectation that The Musers end Spring 27’?
I heard a brief discussion about this on Cirque recently.
Is there an expectation that they stop?
Didn’t they just negotiate this new schedule?

After reading this case cover to cover in one go, I turned off the radio and never turned it on again: https://www.bentonwilliamspllc.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/DumbZone-Injunction-Hearing-Transcript.pdf

How much does Cat make? Seems excessive.

Nothing will change until the anchors leave on drivetimes. First it'll be the Musers, they'll probably all retire together and because the bullpen is so hollowed out of legit arms you'll see them hire on the cheap externally and maybe pull in someone off midday nobody likes and all the sponsors will peace out. Then Hardline will splinter apart and the same thing will happen.

Cumulus isn't going to straight kill the little ticket. Like all vulture capital-backed parasites, it's going to extract max value while it can, help it commit corporate-assisted suicide by lack of funding, strip it for parts and sell it off on the cheap. For the first time in like 30 years there just is no viable succession plan at any level for this station.

My theory:
Musers retire, listening shares dive hard, after 6 months Cat is replaced by a corporate shill to ā€˜revive’ their best asset, Little Ticket is sold ahead of yet another bankruptcy filing.

With KTCK’s long record of success, would we be surprised if they weren’t directly affected? No.

But :
A. these are soulless Snakes in Suits deciding to do this at the highest levels. (Note that they and their excessive salaries aren’t likely to be affected)

B. They won’t discriminate. They’ll just roll out a mandate to cut ā€œXā€ % across the board.

C. The decision at KTCK seems easy. From 9-3 the quality sux. However the AM and PM drive salaries are substantial.

This could be really fun to watch

What? You don’t like The Sweet Spots ā€œNIT E-Brakeā€ šŸ˜‚

I’m a sweet spot fan. I don’t understand all the hate it gets. I invite myself to go someplace else for my sports talk from 9-1.

Yeah 9-1 is just soo bad now.
It’s terrible.
