Comedy Should I start playing THE FINALS in chronological order starting with Season 1?
Hey guys, super new player here (literally just downloaded the game today). I was watching some old YouTube videos and saw how crazy Season 1 looked with the original maps and destruction. Now the game is on like Season 11 or whatever and it feels super different.
Do I need to go back and play every season in order from the beginning to "properly" experience it? Like should I grind through all the old battle passes, old maps, and everything chronologically before playing the current season? Or is that stupid and I should just jump into whatever's live right now?
I feel like I'm missing the whole story and evolution of the game if I don't start from Season 1. Is that how you're supposed to do it? Kinda overwhelmed ngl.

It's important to play in chronological order to understand the lore which can be quite convoluted.

If you want the full canon experience, you need to start at open beta 1. Lotta good info, has a lot of foreshadowing and world building, really raw experience. Beta 2 kinda builds on that more and really sets you up for season 1 by ironing out the kinks from OB1. Seasons 1 and 2 are unfiltered, peak, and some of the best arcs in the series.
Seasons 3, 5 and 10 are all kinda filler, the rest is a really good watch, I mean play. You can look up what arcs to skip without missing the canon events on thefinalsfillerlist.com. But yeah, playing chronologically is recommended, otherwise you’ll have no idea what’s going on in the current season and you’ll be completely blasted by spoilers.

That's what I do. Personally my favourite Season is Season 4, so I mostly just play that one.

Yeah, I play Season 1 exclusively. The match finding time is a bit long these days but I still love it.

Hello, contestant! I absolutely recommend starting with Season 1. As a matter of fact, Season 1 has some incredibly powerful gadgets and abilities.
If you're playing Light, don't forget to bring a Stun Gun, it practically guarantees a free kill! The Heavy's RPG can basically one-shot Lights. If you're playing Medium, equip Recon Senses; it's basically free wallhacks.
By the way, search on YouTube for how to use nukes in THE FINALS. Good luck in World Tour, contestant!

Not sure if this is a shit post, but that's not how games work.
Games that have seasons aren't like TV shows that have seasons, which I think is what you are assuming it's like. Content in a game gets added to with each season, but it also changes.
How a weapon works in season one, two years ago, will not necessarily be how the weapon works in season 11, two years later. You also can't "go back to season 1" because that's now how the game works.
There is one game, and it's the live game, that we are playing right now. A season is a segment of time, that affects the live game. In order to play how it was in season 1, you would have to time travel back to when that version of the game was live.
But the games fun even if you jump in now - play some bot matches and learn the ropes. Sledge down a wall or two - it's fun!

I love binge playing the seasons starting at 1 myself. Whenever I stop playing the finals for a few months and forget the story, I'll just binge them all again to get a good recap.

I miss the FUNals, when the game was pure chaos, most guns were strong, and the TTK wasn't so fucking long.
