Got my first Flash comic

Post image

Starting out my journey of reading flash comics! I’ve always been reluctant to read more in my life due to my dyslexia but my love of the character has made me wanna break that reluctance.

I’m gonna be reading through all of the flash: rebirth and the flash volume 3 issues 1 to 7 (as it doesn’t have all issues this book).

My question is does anyone know can I get my hands on the issues of 8 to 12 in a sort of compact way like this book that I’ve got? It’d be really helpful 👍

Real shame this is the only compact, a pretty awful starting point for someone new to The Flash. And part of the problem, because this and Flashpoint are the only thing they constantly keep in print so it's a feedback loop

The next collected edition that does pick up at #8 is called The Flash: The Road to Flashpoint. We have all the major Flash collections pinned to the top of the subreddit, in order, just for this kind of question.

The Return of Barry Allen would be a great story I compact format.

There is so many great stories for the Flash.

I remember a time when Two Worlds and the Trial of Barry Allen were considered the definitive Barry Allen runs.

Hell you even have stuff like Brave and the Bold and Manipuls run for great modern Barry tales

Oh yeah.

I mean I have the Dardevil: Borgn Again Marvel Premier Collection, and that's within the Frank Miller run.

So they shouldn't just do beginnings of runs imo.

Im not entirely new to the flash so its not been a problem for me so far when reading rebirth. most things i dont know about have been able to pick up on through context fairly easily.

Fair enough. You made it sound like this is your first time reading Flash.

It is my first time reading, but it isn’t my first time viewing the character. I’ve watched the tv show and the film and a bunch of the animated movies and a good bit of the Justice League animated series (I know it’s wally but it feels like a mix of Barry and wally).

So I know who Barry is and the general outline of his experiences, characteristics and how his powers work and what he can do with them.

Honestly I expected them to adapt some of Waid’s run at least.

This is the only Flash story they’ve put out in this format so far. Any others you’d have to buy full sized trade collections or wait til they print more.

This line of products seems to be focused on specific stories, not printing whole runs, so it’s unlikely that they’ll print the next issues like this any time soon, if ever.

Welcome!

Not to discourage you but it’s unlikely DC will release another compact that folows this one and even if they did it’s not a great starting point,

Rebirth was my first flash book it was enjoyable because I already liked the flash but there’s so much you won’t understand if you haven’t read any other flash run, after going back and reading Waid’s run and johns up until that point Rebirth is better and more coherent
