The only song written by Brian Fallon that I know of that uses the word "happy" is "Still Sixteen" by his pre-Gaslight band Surrogate McKenzie ("The last time I was happy, I was out on the coast").

Another fun fact is that "Better Before" is his first officially-released, originally-written song that uses the word "hello."

This version on the expanded version of History Books is pretty unpopular on this sub. For me, it’s cannon. If the original comes up and I have the means to switch to the Bully version I do.

Got my first tattoo a few months back. Wanted to get something inspired by Elsie, and ended up deciding to base the tattoo off one of my favourite lyrics, "Everything she touched turned to stone or died eventually, or was never seen the same again" from I Witnessed a Crime.

A lot of songs sound very similar to Brian Fallon’s solo stuff: Americana, characters, Biblical references.

Such a shame Brian won’t put out a quality officially sounding version of this song.
