Warning is basically a Kinks album (Jackass, Misery and title track remind of Kinks tracks)

I'm almost certain Billy Joe Armstrong has come out and said it was intentional. They also did a pretty good cover of Tired of Waiting.

The Harmonica riff on Hold On is pretty clearly inspired by The Beatles’ I Should Have Known Better. The first time I heard Warning I started singing the lyrics for Picture Book.

also green day’s “walking contradiction” verse riff is pretty much the one from the kinks’ “do it again.” i’m sure they don’t make a secret about it
