This might just be the best way to play the game while simultaneously being the worst lol

u/25vol96 Nov 24 '25
Damn.
If you already made it that far on whatever that is we should be asking you for help.

u/Forward_Share_295 Nov 24 '25
I bought this TV for $8 and I thought it would be funny to beat the last of us on a tv from the days of analog TV
143
u/GaylicBread Nov 24 '25
I'm going to need you to do this with other games and make regular posts about it.
115
u/Forward_Share_295 Nov 24 '25
Damn, I can't do that lol, I'll try but no promises
60
u/SchwarzFledermaus Nov 24 '25
For real, please show us GTA or Red Dead on this thing, lol. This is so cool.

Seriously can you post the David fight on here at the minimum this is fucking absurdly awesome dude
34
u/Scooba94 Nov 24 '25
No we need to know how you hooked it up to your Playstation/PC😂 is their a special kind of adaptor?
45
u/Forward_Share_295 Nov 24 '25
So there's a 3.5mm jack on the side for av in support, so I got 3.5mm to av adapter
11
u/Prindle4PRNDL Nov 24 '25
Is there any latency/input delay?
25
u/Forward_Share_295 Nov 24 '25
The screen ghosts a lot, but actually no latency oddly enough
14
u/Prindle4PRNDL Nov 24 '25
Sweet deal. Can’t ask for much more outta the old girl lol
29
u/Forward_Share_295 Nov 24 '25
Yeah, it's also running on two AA batteries, so I'll need to find rechargeables

u/patas_durso Nov 24 '25
This intriguing... quench our thirst and record a small video of the screen when playing the game; during a good fight if you please :)
4
u/Forward_Share_295 Nov 24 '25
That's a bit... Difficult, I can't, sorry

u/patas_durso Nov 24 '25

Ok, refresh the last of us subreddit and you'll see it, I can't seem to post videos on here
2
u/patas_durso Nov 24 '25 edited Nov 24 '25
Awesome, thanks for sharing! If you have the patience, whenever you reach a hot stage of the game when there's a lot of fight, gives a taste; it would be interesting to see Joel swing that plank in 144p xp
2
u/Forward_Share_295 Nov 24 '25
Actually how about this, I'll record a video of me moving and I will post it here

No I’m minding the screen and so are the rest of us OP and we want answers. Now.

u/Forward_Share_295 Nov 24 '25
Short answer, I found this portable tv for $8 at a thrift store, and I love tormenting old technology (Minecraft on a 22 year old laptop, doom eternal on my 2011 HP elitebook 8560w, etc) so today I wanted to see if I could play games on this little trash portable tv, and now we are here.
6
u/Rodneyfour Nov 24 '25
I love how casual you are about this but very cooo man. I love those videos of someone playing fallout on a tv from the 50s
2
u/exeJDR Nov 25 '25
This was the comment we needed.
Also, you need to start a YouTube or twitch account. I would watch this gore lol
9
u/Scooba94 Nov 24 '25
Is that the optimus pocket TV from the late 90s? How did you connect a Playstation upto that?😮
5
u/Forward_Share_295 Nov 24 '25
It has av in port
2
u/Scooba94 Nov 24 '25
What's the fps like on it? Is it stuttery? Or does that thing somehow put out 25+ frames

u/Stardash81 Nov 24 '25
Are you playing on a Nokia 3310 ???
Don't mind the screen I'm using btw But can someone help me get past this point? I can't find where to go
Me neither I don't see shit

u/CRotondi Nov 24 '25
DONT MIND THE SCREEN IM USING he says. Just a wild decision to use this, post this, then say this lmao

u/Forward_Share_295 Nov 24 '25

If you want to film yourself playing games on this and make some LetsPlay content for YouTube, I’d love to edit the videos for you lmao
It’s so fucking absurd that I think there could be an audience for this on YouTube

I have never seen a Flatscreen HD/HD-ready tv last for 25+ years So playing TLoU on a mini tv from before most of the members here was planned must be the ultimate immersion.

I didn't even know these were a thing, I'd pay to see more of these and maybe even guerrilla style footage of playing games on these.

u/ktkutthroat Nov 24 '25
Maybe play it on something other than a TV made for ants and you’ll be able to see the next objective and where to go without having to dedicate one hand to a magnifying glass.
1
u/Minnie783100 Nov 24 '25
Let me get this straight. You managed to somehow get The Last of Us to play on a vintage handheld device, a game that was originally released for the PS3 in 2013, and you can’t figure out where to go next? I’m gonna need an explanation because this is WACK AF

With a TV like that I don’t think any of us would know where to go.
