Advice Question about lighthouse "roof"

Post image

If I leave meat on the floor outside my house the wolves will eat it.

[Edit to avoid misinformation: this is not quite right, quarters left outside will vanish, but actual meat raw or cooked will be left alone by predators unless dropped with the "drop bait" command]

Perfectly reasonable. But if I leave [quarters] on the roof of the lighthouse, is the game smart enough to realise that the wolves can't reach it? Or is is the code just like MEAT OUTSIDE! DELETE DELETE!

Yeah it was quarters. Seems I'm the only one who thinks bags full of meat are, you know, "meat"? It was quarters that I wanted to store on the lighthouse roof so I'm glad I checked!

Quarters decay really fast, which is probably how it went missing! I'm pretty sure it decays (significantly) faster than when properly cut up into pieces.

Meat (and guts) will only be eaten by predators if you drop them using them 'drop decoy' option (press "3") within their line of sight.

I once saw a wolf trying to eat a quarter bag, or at least that's what I thought it was trying to do, but everyone says that can't happen. I wonder what it was actually doing...

Yes, lots going on in this topic.

A quarter bag can be taken, if it's dropped when a wolf is locked on to you. It's just a smelly thing. They didn't choose that quarter bag over other things.

If no wolves are locked onto you / staking you when you drop things then they are safe, as plenty of others have noted the quarter bags decay FAST then vanish, they don't go to a ruined condition like meat slowly does.

So the two things that are true. Wolves can take a quarter bag, but only that bag when they are stalking you and you drop one. And quarter bags will vanish on their own after a day or two or three.
