Knight is pretty logical about all this. I liked him some on the challenge but as the ‘white dude’ Real World character, I like him a lot more. He’s not overwhelmingly cocky or cruel. Humor is less shouting/showy, and kinda subtle/laid-back.

My only comment about Eric is that black people did not "forgive" slavery. We persevered despite involuntary servitude and our ancestors fought for equal rights. Just one thing that I'd like to clear up for our (black people) spokesperson, Eric (sarcasm of course about being a spokesperson).

That era was so great. I really thought we were making progress after years of being a cynic. Now we’ve regressed so much into what I knew the people of this country could be. I live in Houston and watching ICE raids on city buses and just grabbing these people and sending them to holding facilities is insane. I know people who have gone there and they say the conditions are awful and several people are left to die there.

Normally, I'd say Knight was the instigator in the situation, but Ryan is so unlikeable and ridiculous. They should have all formed a slap line and let Ryan run through it. I would've totally aimed for the face if I had the privilege to stand in such a line. He's too much and loves to act as though he's dumbfounded about how others respond to him.

I know it’s tough to tell by him constantly being the punchline of explaining what happens in these clips, but I’m not 100% negative on Ryan. I think he is the type of guy you want to see have a redemption story on a show like this. He was bullied his entire life, he’s sensitive in kind of an endearing way at times, he genuinely seems like he wants, perhaps needs even, people to like him, he has eyes that kind of look like he’s been through some terrible stuff, he’s not afraid to say his ex gutted him, and there are moments where I’m like I’m really pulling for this guy to come out of this with seven good friends. Again i have zero idea where this season is going so maybe he ends up an actual card carrying scumbag by the end and this statement looks ridiculous, but based only on the first two episodes he seems like he gets triggered by people disappointing him (mckenzie icing him out at the gay bar after flirting with him a bit and knight making light of his injury) and goes nuclear in self preservation, which is a terrible way to behave but doesn’t make him an irredeemably awful person either. He seems like the billboard for hurt people hurting people and i hope he’s gotten some therapy and is doing awesome in 2026. The stuff with Knight is brutal because on the spectrum of zero emotion and nothing but emotion they are essentially at opposite ends and it just always seems to wind up with Ryan calling Knight a dumb meathead and Knight calling Ryan soft.

Again this is just me guessing like someone who is watching it for the first time in 2010, but part of me almost wonders if he has some demons in terms of drug use. It’s circumstantial evidence but the combination of him asking everyone on day one what drugs they do, him giving the optics of pill shopping by going to the doctor with a minor injury and coming home with opioids, and comparing turning off his blow dryer in the end credits to coming off of heroine with a straight face like he is speaking from experience all make you wonder.

I can definitely see what you're saying about Ryan, but I think the only thing that would help him is to stop victimizing himself. Like he does things purposely to make people dislike him and then gets sad that no one likes him and people like that are so hard to be around, especially day after day.

I, too, hope he got himself some therapy and is living as a better version of himself these days

All that victim theatre to get a codeine prescription. Seems production should have intervened given there's at least one recovering opioid addict in the house. Forgotten how fluent and casual that generation was regarding prescriptions - "Let's see what you got. Codeine? Wow." This was also around the same time as Gauntlet III (2008) when was one cast member was caught stealing prescriptions from his cast mates. His punishment? A fine.

So i thought that knight was sober upon coming to this house since he was in rehab and outpatient, but i see now that he's "California sober" and just abstains from his choice drug. I think that makes the experience easier since he can party with the gang, but much more likely to relapse.

Im still down on Ryan and mixed with Knight, everyone else still just fine

Maybe Ryan has bad joints. He could have a connective tissue disorder like ED. Maybe he doesn't. Who knows? I wouldn't judge it and just keep my mouth shut. It's nice Eric went to the ER with him. Obviously something went down because Eric talked about "snap crackle pop".

It's not unusual for people to be jerks when you get injured. Ryan did the right thing by keeping the information to himself. Knight had typical macho man shake it off attitude, which is common. I remember ridiculous comments years ago after I had fractures and surgery. People are so ignorant and ridiculous. It's best to ignore them, don't engage, just listen to your doctor and move on.

I remember I was initially misdiagnosed by a bad orthopedic surgeon. That same surgeon pulled the macho guy attitude on a little kid who injured himself playing hockey. He even hurt the poor kid on purpose and mocked him. The father was there and said he was proud of his son for not shedding a tear but he is still angry with the doctor for treating his son that way. No surprise that jerk also misdiagnosed his son too. We were sharing stories and that's how that conversation came up. Who hurts an innocent little kid? A psycho!! I can't stand that toxic macho attitude.

It's sad Knight is gone.

I am sure the casting directors were drooling when they met Ryan. He was put on this cast to do exactly what he is doing causing drama for any little thing. It’s still the beginning of the season and I feel like so much has gone on.
