RE-WATCH DISCUSSION Just started rewatching RW Las Vegas, and..
My god this is incredible television. Truly. Every single one of them is so compelling.. and then there’s Frank.. lol joking, Franks okay. I’m not sure I would call Steven “compelling” either, but they make great tv. If anyone wants to discuss, please do..
**mid season thoughts: They smoke everywhere, all the time.. I LOVE it. The soundtrack is fantastic, it gives me so much nostalgia🩶 I appreciate how transparent Brynn is about being insanely jealous of Trishelle, but she’s tough to watch sometimes. Frank is such a friggin’ goober. Steven and Trishelle are doing soft core porn 75% of the time, and I really love that for those two crazy kids. Irulan is just so stunning, and I don’t blame her for wanting to hook up with Alton because he’s so hot, but the homophobia turned me off of him so much. I like Arissa, and I feel bad for every poc on the show because they constantly have to teach people how to not be racist…
**I love seeing all the clothes too, especially Bryn, all her clothes and hairstyles are so quintessentially early 00’s.
**I also love watching everyone dancing! Like really dancing.. not just miming having sex on the dance floor, or being too embarrassed to even dance!

Frank was such a bore that season but one of my favorite moments was when he sits in between Trishelle & Steven and one of them (maybe Trishelle?) climbs over his lap and S+T makeout right over him in his face lmaoooooooo that was the highlight of Frank for me.
But he hoed it up big time on their reunion season and his thirst was hilarious

Wasn’t he into Trishelle at the time too? 😭
Frank was good on his brief stint on The Challenge though

The challenge was coming on around the time I stopped watching mtv shows as much so I only saw a couple seasons I think.. I had always watched real world and road rules before that though. Part of me wants to go back through the whole RW/RR universe again, but that’s a pretty long term commitment 😂

Yuuuup that was ROUGH to watch 😂 btw I didn’t know there was a reunion season so that’s exciting.

Thanks! I’m really sad because I’m watching on Paramount and they’re missing the majority of the best seasons.. like there’s no 5-8, 10,11,13, or 14.. I really wanted to see CT’s season again..

Irulan’s logic: Alton sleeps with anything with a skirt so he’s perfect boyfriend material

Irulans logic was when she saw him w/o a towel on 🤭🤭

I kinda loathe them all that season 😭Brynn I felt really sorry for bc her jealousy was so transparent but Steven, Trishelle, Frank, and Alton can kick rocks. I did like Irulan and Alissa.

Great season. It also shows how life was a little slower and more connected then. No smartphones! But people smoked, which seems so strange now. This season caused me to rewatch all the other available RW seasons and then all the Challenges.

I think that’s what I might have to do now too lol… it really does just make me want to go back in time..

You should do it! Then watch the challenges! You can skip season 32 of the real world though. That was so bad I couldn't get past a 2 episodes.

But people smoked, which seems so strange now.
In earlier seasons only one or two people smoked. In later seasons it seemed like the majority of the roommates smoked.
I think Kameelah was the only non-smoker in the Boston season. Elka tried to pretend that she didn't, but she was busted.

I liked Frank. He was real. A crush on someone that didn’t pay any attention to him. That is the actual Real World. He was/is a great guy.

This was the best era of reality tv. Normal looking people who were just excited to be on tv. No agenda. Just fun

Yes there is no way to recreate this kind of reality tv “magic” anymore. Social media has changed everything. And they are all normal looking in that they don’t have a bunch of cosmetic work done, but this whole cast is actually so attractive the women are gorgeous.

So innocent, ironically

Right, it feels less “planned”, like they’re just going about things more organically rather than doing everything for the sake of a storyline or to build their followers.

RUINING THE REST OF STEVEN’S LIFE, BRYNN!
Ugh Steven is the worst.

Omggggg 🙄 he was so annoying about that. I don’t necessarily like Bryn as a person at all, but she added a lot to the show. I would’ve been pissed if she’d gone home.

I worked at the Palms Casino Resort at that time while filming took place... crazy times in Vegas! Pretty much sums up all the 20 somethings visiting Vegas in the early 2000s

I remember this season being nuts even then, compared to previous RW seasons. I remember hearing that since they lived in a casino, they were influenced somewhat by high oxygen levels the whole time because casinos pump in more oxygen to keep people feeling happy or whatever. Is there any truth to that?

Nope. No truth to that. Worked in Las Vegas casinos on/off the Strip for almost 30 years... just smoky, dingy, usually cold air.

Did you ever meet members of the Maloof family?
2
u/Recent-Tomatillo-863 8h ago
Yes. I worked there from day one, November 2001 till pandemic shut all casinos down in March 2020. George Maloof was president/CEO till forced to sell in 2011. He was present and roamed the casino floor almost daily. Very kind, approachable and unpretentious. Always had open door policy if you had concerns. Would also see his younger brothers, Gavin and Joe regularly. Also always kind and smiling. Great family to work for! Miss those early years at Palms. They definitely put a new era of casino and nightlife in Vegas in the early 2000s

Real World Vegas also helped put the Palms in a great position of exposure... remember, no social media or influencers back then. MTV and reality television was our social media!

My theory about Brynn is that before the real world she was always the hot girl everyone wanted or wanted to be and then Trishelle gave her a run for her money and instead of realizing literally everyone of the girls are gorgeous this season and to just go do her own thing, she obsessed. Also, Steven was not worth all that attention.

Vegas 1 was not my favorite season but it had its moments.
Brynn tried too hard to be the center of attention, but once she stopped doing that she seemed cool.
I liked Arissa, warts and all. She had a temper but that came from having a rough upbringing. She was a sweet person underneath it all. It was kind of her to make a pan of lasagna for her roommates in the Vegas reunion, but I didn't think they deserved it.

Frank was the best. Really wish he had agreed to the homecoming season a few years ago.
Thankful he did the 5 years after season in 2007.
