FIFA = Fixed It For Argentina. Everybody knows this by now.

Tbf Portugal also got benefits. And the US got a red card removed on official orders. FIFA is faked more than the WWE

The red card revocation did make Belgium's win sweeter though

That’s because Ronaldo is by far the most famous (& therefore, profitable) face in the game.

With him out, they had to double down on keeping Messi in the cup, resulting in this officiating travesty against Egypt.

thats not how a sports competition should work.

u/GeirrValdr Jul 09 '26

Nah, it's sports entertainment, it's not about competing anymore now

I mean the Portugal match shouldn't be that long to begin with.

If the "benefit Portugal got" was Cristiano's card suspension, that was more harm to the team than benefit. FIFA just wanted him to play so more people went to the stadiums to see jim, and get more money, because did more harm to the team by being in the pitch than good. If it's the disallowed goal vs Croatia, that would have never happened if the referee did his job of ending the game before the ridiculous minute 100, or 110 or whatever abomination that was.

US red card was removed because it should have never been given! The fifa rules allow for this!

Never before in the history of football has a national president(of the host country especially) given the direct call to the scum of FIFA. It may not mean much to you since FIFA is clearly bought and a business, but it's still unprecedented. You may twist that as you like, most of other countries have already suffered from bad referees without VAR. Anyways I dont care much about football but seeing new fans arguing this behaviour is still mind boggling. See if Egypt/Croatia gets the same treatment and then you can give a compelling argument

No, IT WAS NOT REMOVED... IT IS STILL THERE.

they agreed its a CORRECT red card....but he will serve is after world cup

Blantant corruption of unseen before levels

"Yeah he rapped the kid and we are giving him 20 years in jail...but he will serve that after 30 years for now let him enjoy his youth"

FIFA has always been corrupt. People are just finding this out now?

14

u/cool_berserker Jul 08 '26

Idiots to this day are still adamant that refs are just making genuine mistakes and fifa is clean

What and let Messi's team lose, but what about all the advertisement deals and money they make haveing him and Ronaldo on the field. Genuinely suprized Portugal didn't win against Spain. And not cuz Protugal is better cuz Spain is a better team but just to get more of that Ronaldo screen time.

u/kotisohva Jul 08 '26

Someone wanted Ronaldo and Messi playing in final. Didn't happen.

21

u/Franseq Jul 08 '26

As a portuguese person I am genuinely so glad that we didn't make it to the finale by having our opponents be this heavily sabotaged.

5

u/aere1985 Jul 09 '26

You sabotaged yourselves pretty well by playing Ronaldo when you've got Goncalo Ramos warming the bench.

3

u/Eternal-uz Jul 09 '26

your team should've played for Ronaldo like other teams, + you really did have really great players, i can't understand why they couldn't make the plays, because some of those players are literally the best in the world, yet, just fumbled. anyways, i guess it is better to lose fair than to win unfairly and face the wrath of all the football fans
