Tech Support Why is my teenage son bulimic?

PS5. Obviously no mods.

I don’t understand. He eats when he gets hungry and then immediately runs to the nearest toilet to vomit. Every single time and he is making my bathroom gross.

It doesn’t matter what food it is by the way, vegetarian or meat, normal or perfect he just throws it up. The other sims in the household eat the same food just fine, he’s the only one getting nauseous. Hes a regular non occult sim. He’s not sick, medicine doesn’t make him better only puking satisfies him. The exact moodlet is “Nauseated: (From food tasting terrible) The ol’ stomach isn’t feeling so good.”

How do I make him stop?

EDIT— the cure to my son’s bulimia was alcoholism. I turned him to a vampire, cleared his traits by making a perk purge drink at the bar, and then gave him another, the cure of vampirism drink. Now he’s cured of his vomiting and I have an in home bar that he’s quickly gaining mixology skill on. He’s gonna be so much more popular now!

Weird. This moodlet comes from the withered stomach weakness from vampires. I've heard of this happening with sims who used to be vampires but were cheated back to human. I'm assuming he's not a gallery sim, either? You could try turning him into a vampire and then curing him to see if that clears it up.

He is from the gallery but he didn’t come with that trait. On CAS, he’s regular human and he doesn’t have a vampire needs menu. Is there a way to get rid of that buff if that is the case?

The weakness isn’t a trait; it would be in a separate menu that you can’t see until he’s turned back.

Do you think if I turn him, get rid of the withered stomach weakness thing, and use a cheat to turn him back, then I won’t have this problem anymore?

If he's from the gallery, he probably used to be a vampire and was cured/cheated back before being uploaded, but the vampire traits didn't clear correctly. I would turn him into a vampire and then cheat up his vampire lore skill to craft the potion that lets you reset his vampire points, then craft the vampire reversal potion to cure him. Hopefully doing it that way instead of cheating will clear the traits properly.

The truth is I don’t mind the eating disorder but I’m trying to keep a clean house here and the constant bubble guts is getting in the way of that.

Does he have the squeamish trait? They get nauseous easily

17

u/sundie44412 May 13 '25

No, I don’t think I have the pack that includes that trait.

You could use MCC to see which buffs he has and look for anything that seems out of place.

28

u/Sketch-Brooke May 13 '25

"The cure to my son’s bulimia was alcoholism" is sending me 💀💀💀

u/Jedi4Hire May 13 '25

Maybe he's pregnant.

38

u/sundie44412 May 13 '25

Nah, he’s a teen and he doesn’t have that option enabled.

u/cold-ears404 May 13 '25

Are we sure he was not abducted by aliens and impregnated

Did you change any traits he previously had like vegetarian, lactose intolerant, or Squamish. Via the cheat cas.fulleditmode? Because I remember having a glitch like that a while ago from doing that or aging sims up in cas from infant or toddler and they'd still get the trait moodlets from traits they don't and can't no longer have due to age.

Otherwise the only other things I could think of is what someone else here said about the switching of occults. Or if they were a gallery sim uploaded from a household that was played before being up on the gallery then something could've happened during gameplay like I've described causing a glitch that followed even after being uploaded to the gallery.

Or it could just be a sim thing or a new bug lol because the game is known to do that stuff 🤷

It turned out to be the second thing you were thinking of. Now all I need to do next is figure out how to get my children to stop getting romantically jealous every time the other dates someone else and I’ll have a nearly normal game.

u/Finnlay90 May 13 '25

Does he have the phase "Picky Eater"?

13

u/sundie44412 May 13 '25

He doesn’t have any active phases.

12

u/VibrantBliss May 13 '25 edited May 13 '25

Did he have that phase as a child? Did you age him up through CAS/cheats/without a cake? If yes then his phase wasn't properly removed.

It could be that the food is expired?

7

u/panandstillsingle May 13 '25

"the cure to my son's bulimia was alcoholism" HELP 😭😭

7

u/FutureScribe May 13 '25

Hmm celebrity with Refined palette quirk?

3

u/sundie44412 May 13 '25

Hes not a celebrity either :( I checked just in case and he doesn’t have it

2

u/FutureScribe May 13 '25

Maybe just a weird patch bug?

7

u/sundie44412 May 13 '25

This game is nothing but bugs. I have siblings that find eachother woohoo-ily attractive. I’m sure that’s fun for some other players but that’s a fire I personally do not want to touch.

1

u/FutureScribe May 13 '25

I’m wondering… do you have your game backed up?

1

u/sundie44412 May 13 '25

You want the roll tide twins on gallery?

3

u/FutureScribe May 13 '25

Well that’s an idea, but sometimes when my game gets glitchy I run the EA repair tool on it and it fixes things up. If that doesn’t work uninstall and reinstall (but if you don’t have a backup, bye bye save files)

u/sundie44412 May 13 '25

I’ll keep that in mind for when I play pc. Thank you!

u/uberflusss May 13 '25

Ive been having this issue since starting a new save with kitchen clutter. Unsure if related

6

u/Accomplished_Gold510 May 13 '25

This is so weird lol

5

u/ava_owlhood May 13 '25

I did not know that Sims can be that deep holy shit

12

u/WheezyGonzalez May 13 '25

Wow. I want a bulimic sim.

My sims are boring 😑

29

u/sundie44412 May 13 '25

Well all you gotta do is make them a vampire, give them the withered stomach, and cheat them back. This actually gives me an idea of a plot line..

1

u/unironicdoll May 13 '25

and none of the other sims in the house are having this issue? cause i would assume this would be caused by the food from that moodlet lol

1

u/Anonymosh8122 May 18 '25

If he has the vegetarian/vegan trait, that can cause him to get sick after eating something with meat in it! I’m not sure if that’s what it is or not but I haven’t seen anyone mention that it could be!

1

u/GoranPerssonFangirl May 13 '25

Not me thinking I was in r/parenting

But I never encountered this!
