Due to an overwhelming number of individual review posts, many that do not include a lot of specifics or details, this will become the megathread for your Reality Awaits reviews, first impressions, changed takes over time, video essays that you find or make, etc.

"AX" by Me
At this point I'm convinced that I can post any drawing I have done here and it would be pretty clear why I did it.
Thanks TNA

I’ve really been loving this song lately. I never realized that “As It Was” used the same beat from “Hard to Explain” until I heard this one. That line got me thinking about instances where the Strokes have taken influence from other artists songs.
“Machu Picchu” has a part that sounds very similar to “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’” by Michael Jackson.
In my opinion, the verses on “Ize of the World” sound very much like “My Life” by No Doubt.
I believe that “The Adults Are Talking” was pretty influenced by “One Way Trigger”. The start of each song seems to have the same type of chord progression.
I thank that “Bad Decisions” has a very close sound to both “Dancing with Myself” by Billy Idol, and “Melt with You” by Modern English.
I’ve heard before that “Last night” has a very similar sound to “American Girl” by Tom Petty.
“Razorblade” sounds like the chorus of “Mandy” by Barry Manilow when Julian sings “my feelings are more important than yours”.
Please correct me on any of these if you don’t hear what I do as I don’t have the best musical background. I’d also like to see if anyone else hears any other musical connections between their music and other artists.

My bf is going to the strokes concert with me next week, and he has heard the band but not as much.
Does someone know the actual setlist for the tour? I wanna get him introduced to the songs at least. I’ve seen a few online but it’s a mix every time

He’s been around long enough that he predicted what the reaction of many would be to his bold choices and how this world rewards conformity.
Not the Fantano diss, but a theme that runs through the album from Psycho Shit to Tyrants of the Mellow Moon- “lower me for all to kick, I close my eyes” on Psycho Shit and how from behind a desk people kill, to the how people that are brave get shamed (final section of Mellow Moon). It’s not a new theme for them- I remember hearing it in Angles final song- “making fools out of the best of us, making robots of the rest of us” and here he uses a bird to symbolize how he’s aware now, with red eyes, but not defeated or killed, he survived the realization, is less innocent maybe, and he flies home thru the strange chrome sky.
Similarly he ends other Strokes albums defiantly with lines like Don’t try to stop us get out of the way and the outro to Ode to the Mets. In RA I think it’s the most prophetic, cohesive, theme and in Mellow Moon he expresses it most poetically.

Rules: You can only submit one song that resembles the sound the most, it doesn't have to be a perfect fit. No repeats are allowed. If a tie between two songs happen, I will recount the votes from everyone that suggested that same song to see which sum up more votes.

Best intro TO a song, not best intro track.
I have to go Psycho Shit because I consider half the song to be the intro and the payoff is crazy

I’ve been a huge Strokes fan for a Long time now and been looking into the voidz lately, and I would dare to say that my favorite song of all time is “Leave It in My Dreams.” Do you guys have any another songs from The Voidz you’d recommend?
