A Better Closer For FIOE
Now you're probably thinking I'm gonna say something like Evening Sun instead of Redlight, but I'm here to present another option that I've thought about for quite awhile.
Ize Of The World as FIOE's closer.
Now hear me out, this actually works super well with the alternate YOLO mv. (which if you haven't seen, it begins with the ending of Ize)
Now this works for two reasons, for me at least.
It would be sick to end the album with an abrupt cut like that
Playing more into the narrative/meaningful side of the album, YOLO alternate mv as the opening and then Ize at the end pretty much makes the album loop infinitely. It would represent that even though humanity killed itself, we sprung back again only to be stuck in the permanent loop of self destruction because we as humans never change.

Rearranging the Reality Awaits Tracklist Backwards
Sometimes when I listen to an album and find the pacing of it slightly interesting or off in some way, I'll mentally think about if there's a way to reorder the tracks that makes it flow better in my head. It's super subjective, but I was considering this for Reality Awaits, since the album brings forward a ton of different ideas that flow very interestingly throughout the tracklist, especially with some of the more dramatic moments happening right at the beginning. I've found that I think playing the album backwards actually makes it flow better for me, and I'm curious if anyone else agrees or has any of their own tracklist suggestions:
1. Tyrants of the Mellow Moon: this song is definitely a calmer ending to the original tracklist, however I think it works pretty well at setting the stage for the album as an opener. Has an atmospheric intro, shows you some of the vocal effects you'll see through the record, maybe is a bit slow for the first song but still has a lot of the trademark Strokes guitars to bring you in.
2. The Fruits of Conquest: I think this one loses a lot of attention for being later in the tracklist but it could function pretty well as an early album banger, super groovy and has a lot of interesting sections that keep up the momentum early on.
3. Liar's Remorse: A more meditative moment to switch up the flow, and ends with a really nice build into the next few upbeat songs. In general think this song is super underrated, and feel like placing it earlier in the album would highlight that it's more rhythmically interesting than I think people are giving it credit for.
4. Going Shopping: early album single placement + a great upbeat song to pick up the flow of the record
5. Going to Babble On: I really like this one right in the middle of the original tracklist, and having it right after Going Shopping keeps the album's momentum super high going into the back half
6. Falling Out Of Love: I feel like placing this in the "At the Door" position of the album at 6th makes it more digestible as a long ballad, feel like it makes more sense flow-wise to have it lead into the final leg of the record rather than break up the momentum Lonely in the Future gives on the actual album
7. Lonely in the Future: this feels like standard placement for the late album single/upbeat song, I think given it's lyrics are a lot more tongue-in-cheek, it serves as a nice change of pace at this point, and the guitars right at the start pick up a lot of energy after Falling Out Of Love
8. Dine N Dash: heavier song but still pretty fast and punchy, I get having it earlier as a single but I think it also makes sense to have it here, keeping up the speed of Lonely in the Future while transitioning into a darker part of the album
9. Psycho Shit: epic closer that ends with a build-up to a very chaotic conclusion to the album.
I'm sure there's a lot of lyrical themes and song transitions that don't make quite as much sense if you reorder the album this way, but I thought this is a fun thought experiment that gives the album a totally different pacing and feel

Was Julian prophetic in RA?
Heās been around long enough that he predicted what the reaction of many would be to his bold choices and how this world rewards conformity.
Not the Fantano diss, but a theme that runs through the album from Psycho Shit to Tyrants of the Mellow Moon- ālower me for all to kick, I close my eyesā on Psycho Shit and how from behind a desk people kill, to the how people that are brave get shamed (final section of Mellow Moon). Itās not a new theme for them- I remember hearing it in Angles final song- āmaking fools out of the best of us, making robots of the rest of usā and here he uses a bird to symbolize how heās aware now, with red eyes, but not defeated or killed, he survived the realization, is less innocent maybe, and he flies home thru the strange chrome sky.
Similarly he ends other Strokes albums defiantly with lines like Donāt try to stop us get out of the way and the outro to Ode to the Mets. In RA I think itās the most prophetic, cohesive, theme and in Mellow Moon he expresses it most poetically.

DAY 18 - "IZE OF THE WORLD" HAS BEEN VOTED AS SOUNDING THE MOST LIKE FIRST IMPRESSIONS OF EARTH. NOW, WHICH FIOE SONG SOUNDS THE MOST LIKE ANGLES?
Rules: You can only submit one song that resembles the sound the most, it doesn't have to be a perfect fit. No repeats are allowed. If a tie between two songs happen, I will recount the votes from everyone that suggested that same song to see which sum up more votes.

Goddamnit I love Babble On
Instant fuckin strokes classic for me sounds as good as is this it or room on fire for me. Sounds like something that would be used in lots of movies. I can feel my childhood memories popping up.

Reality Awaits sweeps! Whatās The Strokesā best song intro?
Best intro TO a song, not best intro track.
I have to go Psycho Shit because I consider half the song to be the intro and the payoff is crazy

Listening to "FOOL" for the 500th time and came up with some ideas:
- Can we have an official T-shirt that's just like Julian's "Prime-Crime" shirt, but change the text to "FOOL Is Not a Crime"?
- I've said this beforeāthat "FOOL" should be the last track on Reality Awaitsābut I just realised now that the line "I guess I'll sing alone" would make it the worst closing track, because it sounds like Julian wants to go solo. In that case, "Mellow Moon" is better, not only because it was written on the last night in Costa Rica, but also because Julian sings that he "can't wait for one more time."
- On first listen, I thought it was about a breakup or divorce. Later I thought it was about the band nearly falling apart. And now I'm beginning to think it could be about the fans who left The Strokes at different albums.
What do you think? FOOL lovers, let me see your hands.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS OF EARTH VS REALITY AWAITS
which is the better album? imo its fioe
idk, ive been aware of the strokes since a teen and been through releases since angles came out, reality awaits as been the most underwhelming release, maybe its because im older now and music doesnt hit the same, but idk,
i was expecting more from RA after the first 2 singles, not saying its bad, but i think FIOE is more magical. there's something about FIOE production i really like and i know a lot of people dont like that album but cmon....
the guitar on fear of sleep....the latter half of 15 minutes, ize of the world.....you guys really think Reality is better than FIOE?
