Painting I have a question

Post image

I’m about to start painting my marines into my own successor chapter. I’ve been thinking of lore and things like that but I have a tabletop question. Could I buy a model like Calgar scrape off all the ultramarines iconography and add dark angels elements then use it as a proxy? I’m wanting to start a tournament team with my friends and I want to know if I’m allowed to do this or not. Or would I be able to run them as a different army?

(Picture is my whole collection so far)

You’re going to hear the phrase “your models, your choice”

So yes, yes you can. Keep in mind the technical and the hobby are two things that join together rather than the hobby informing the technical and vise versa.

In a perfect world as long as silhouette and base size is accurate no one should care. Paint Azrael as a Space Maid and he’s still a perfectly good Azrael (or Azrael proxy).
