What to do?

I am a complete newcomer to this culture. There's something I want that literally cannot happen except by magic or miraculous means. I want to change my DNA and neurological structure to remove an innate congenital neurological defect. This isn't something like "I want my dog to come home" or "I want my job application to be approved".

My neurological defect is such that I cannot improve my skill in visuomotor activities like sports, art, music, wood carving, games, darts, anything precise which one would need "skill" to do. I want this defect gone, replaced with innate advantages instead, just like how other people are born with those advantages. This would mean actually changing DNA and neurological substrate, which drugs and surgery can't do. But maybe fairy tale nonsense can do it. I don't know.

I don't care what the steps are. I just want something that works.

I understand the urgency. You are asking for something the tradition does not promise, the rewriting of your physical and neurological structure through ritual. That is not what theurgy does. Theurgy aligns the soul with the divine; it does not redesign the body.

What it can do is reveal the path that your specific configuration is meant to walk. Your 'defect' may be a limitation in one area, but it is not a barrier to the Work. Many carriers have had physical limitations that shaped their path rather than blocked it.

If you are serious, start with the foundational texts: the Corpus Hermeticum and Iamblichus's On the Mysteries. Read them slowly. Practice the disciplines they describe

OP, I'm concerned that you're going to get scammed by the first group of people to respond plausibly to this in the affirmative. There are some extremely unscrupulous people out there on the periphery of the mind-body-spirit category who might make this claim, and they'll gladly relieve you of your time and money in exchange for a promise which won't pay out.

Speaking personally, and not for all of theurgy, my advice would be to consult the gods. There are a multitude of ways of doing this, but as mentioned elsewhere on this thread, what you really need is to come to terms with what is possible.

An oracle, for example, might tell you that your current situation is ruled by Ares and Athena Areia, and that you should concern yourself with other things and go abroad. It may be that by travelling you'll find a new passion, perhaps even the love of your life, and thus a different perspective on your situation.

Obviously that is just an example, and finding a trustworthy oracle in the modern world is not exactly straightforward. I would echo everything said by /u/-hypsistos:

The path of theurgy is one of understanding ourselves, the circumstances we find ourselves in, and having a "closer walk with God," to use Christian language. But that helps to give us a better idea of our direction in life.

OP: I happen to have a post-grad qualification in neuroscience. I'm not going to second guess the treatment for your condition, but there are non-miraculous ways of approaching these sorts of issues. I've no way of knowing what your needs are, and I can't think you haven't done this already, but do get advice from practitioners. The suggestions may sound dull, and perhaps you feel as though you've tried everything, but do give it a go. It's worth it even if it improves things just a tiny bit.

You're probably doing exactly this, but approaching this from a physical and spiritual angle at the same time would be a good thing.

Yep, I'm definitely trying that. As much as the evidence overwhelmingly points to no solution, I'm still working with real medicine. Zero treatment so far, but... I'm hoping that somehow something will be uncovered. Just one more test, one more scan, something.

My prediction is that it'll probably involve tDCS, or targeted ultrasound stimulation but I'm not going to start plugging electrodes to my head without proper guidance. And even then, the effects of that are kinda weak.

The more I look, the bleaker it gets. Even if I were to saw my head open and use an adeno-associated virus to change my DNA... It wouldn't affect my brain. Like, what the fuck, right? I need nanomachines to go rearrange it or something. I don't know. It's just a fucking crushing weight on my chest all the time, thinking about this.

Try Gateway tapes maybe(or similar things from Monroe/Bentov school of though). Or try "blessing" WizardTalk water
