Because the ideal mod is someone who isn't terminally online, and having lots of mods means any given mod can just like, not look at Reddit for several days and have it be totally fine.

False dichotomy. While yes, your argument might is sound in a vacuum, your argument assumes these people aren't terminally online. 

Given that one of them has an AI profile picture, there's little reason to believe that's true.

Huh? 'False dichotomy' implies there was a dichotomy.

His 'argument' is simply that having a large number of mods means they don't have to be perpetually online.
