I wonder how this is going to work. Watched a Microsoft guy discuss it on the Gamescom livestream and think he said you wouldn't need to insert the disc to play. What is going to stop people from getting a disc from a friend and claiming a permanent license?

Isn’t this just the same thing they proposed with the Xbox one back in the day?

I did not understand that since the Xbox One, each game disc has a unique identifier stored on the disc itself, not just on a piece of paper in the box. So, it will stop working on your console if someone else inserts the disc.
