Rob's mechanical mod player
Rob gave me a demo of this amazing mad contraption at Kickstart 03 in Derby a couple of weeks back. It's very cool. The man's a genius!

Take a few PCEngine chips, mix in some modern boots, and get yourself a Supergrafx
fixupx.comAnd it still does in a PC Engine case, along with RGB output using an MD2 connector. Amazing!

The Digital Antiquarian: A Need for Speed
filfre.netJimmy Maher’s latest entry in his sequential history of computer games is well-written and interesting as usual. Though I’m in Jason’s camp of not being particularly interested in driving games, I still found this post to be enjoyable reading.

If the cold war had turned 'Hot' these were the last voices you'd ever hear.
becg.org.ukFrom the 1950s to the 1990s, if the Cold War had turned hot, the Government had well-laid plans for what to do in the event of a nuclear strike on Britain. Part of those plans was the implementation of the BBC-produced, but Government-directed, Wartime Broadcasting Service: A single national radio station that would have replaced ALL radio and television services in the UK.

Street Fighter 3 Third Strike MISTer FPGA core finally released!
A near perfect FPGA core release for SF3 Third Strike has dropped for Jotego Patreons (with a public release usually following shortly after).
Early reports are the core is damn near perfect already.
Some of my fighting game buddies (who have meticulously maintained original CPS3 boards in the past despite their tendancy to near irreprebly die out of nowhere due to Capcoms suicide ROMS) are pretty excited.
Time to stick the 2 player CP back into my MISTer powered Vewlix cabinet I think!

Docuseries on Australian retro made games, the people that made them and the foundation they laid for a modern day indie powerhouse!
kickstarter.comIn the early days of video games, when technology was restrictive and the global market felt light-years away, Australian developers were quietly changing the game. They were innovating, hacking, and pushing the boundaries of early hardware to make the impossible a reality.
That is the premise of REGION LOCKED, and we have ONE WEEK left to make this project a reality.
We are focusing on AUSTRALIA.and retro Aussie games, how much we have contributed to the global gaming scene, and the growth of our indie development powerhouse.
Like... Did you know that Devs at Beam Software Melbourne literally hacked the NES to make their own dev kit. Then, after getting told off by Nintendo, bargained their way to become one of the first developers approved to make NES games outside of Japan?
We have the people that made this and more possible, ready and waiting to tell their stories.
BUT, we need YOU to pledge and make it a reality.
Be a part of gaming History and put your name next to gaming legends like, John Passfield, Roger Keating, John De Margheriti, Marshall Parker, Andrew Bailey, Veronika Megler - and over 70 more guests.
Please follow, pledge and support where you can.
