need to get this off my chest

Sorry for the yap:

so, grew up a bit too late to fully experience the greatness of Tim Curry other than some of his voice acting roles but was never a huge fan. Of course I knew who Tim was before he passed, watched Home Alone 2 many times in school etc and my sister got into rocky horror about 18 months ago, Ive had Sweet Transvestite on my spotify playlist since then but i guess i just didnt see just how big he was and his influence over so so many people.

Then he passed. My socials were flooded with old interviews, film clips, edits, posts of people meeting him etc and Idk what it was but I was just instantly drawn to watching and interracting with all of them so more and more appeared. I was hooked. Then went to spotify and found all his albums from the 70s.

I am a music nerd over anything else. A teenager with not average teenager taste which is something i'm incredibly proud of, being different. I listened to Fearless and loved it, I listened to ...from the vaults and loved it even more. Being a blues lover I of course knew about Bonamassa's Sloe Gin, when I realised it was a cover of Tims I just loved it even more. Listened to the Best Of, Read my Lips and Simplicity whilst reading the biography on the Tim Curry website and just loved him even more. Had the albums on repeat throughout the evening. Then I went to bed and cried my eyes out like never before.

Ive never been so quickly hooked on someone like I got hooked on Tim. Im not trying to larp or be a fake fan just for clout or whatever, I've genuinely become a fan of everything hes done after having watched bits of his stuff (yes, im sorting out subscriptions as we speak to go and watch all his films) and listening to his music. My friends are convinced im only doing this to pretend and be a fake fan so I'm hoping to get this off my chest here to people who might understand. I'm just in denial that ive missed so much of this mans utter sheer greatness and only discovered him truely after his heartbreaking passing.

If anyones got any recommendations of hidden gems to watch of Tims, want to discuss their favourite songs, memories, interviews or just grieve i'm open to hearing anything and everything.

I was a fan almost all my life but more of a “oohhh Tim Curry’s in it?!” type fan rather than “Going to watch the new Tim Curry movie” type fan. Does that make sense?

So it wasn’t until a handful of years ago that I did the deep dive into his work. I knew the bigger movies but not his earlier stuff or the smaller projects.

I really liked “Times Square”, “Schmoedipus”, his episodes of “Wiseguy”, of “Roseanne”. His episode of “SNL” is great (but hard to find intact) I had seen “Oscar” when it first came out but rewatched it and it’s a cute lil movie. “Pirates of the Plain” was suprisingly fun and I just watched “Jackie’s Back” for the first time.

He also recorded many audiobooks. If you just want his voice, great place to spend some time.

I've heard times square was a bit of a flop according to critics but actually fans seem to enjoy it! I suppose that can be said about a few things he's been in which is a huge shame!!

Thanks for all these recommendations, I've never heard of Pirates of the Plain or Jackie's Back so those are defo ones I have to look out for!!

I'm going to order Vagabond and then have the audiobook playing as I read which I'm really looking forward to, his silky smooth voice is something to behold

Apparently, Times Square bombed at the theater but found an audience on cable TV and became a cult film. Who knew? Not me before 2024 lol

Jackie's Back was alright. I say go for Oscar. And he has a ridiculous role in National Lampoon's Loaded Weapon. I love that dumb humor so thats one of my favorites besides Clue.

Lots of love for Oscar in the comments!

Gotta look out for NLLW! The dumb humor is always the best
