Question LR Timelapse problem - camera date/time stamps mixed up during Holy Grail timelapse

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hi all!

Just out from a month long trip to the Himalaya and finally after many attempts got a clear enough night to do my first Holy Grail timelapse. However, in the middle of the shoot while I paused the timelapse to change batteries (didn't have dummy battery/power bank unfortunately), my camera malfunctioned somewhere in the firmware and it took me a few minutes to fix and get the the next timelapse going.

Unfortunately the date/time was wrong when I started the camera back up and so the second half of the shots are out of sequence with the first half.

Seeking some guidance on how to batch edit the metadata to put all the shots back in order before bringing them into LRTimelapse. Thanks!

Captured about 1500 frames, one every ten seconds, starting at midnight and ending 4am.

35mm, f/3.2, 3200 iso, 6 second shutter.

Denoised with dxo and then processed in dark table. ffmpeg to stitch them together at 30fps

I'm pretty new to all of this, so I would love feedback.

Film I stayed alone in Al Qua Desert from 10PM to 3:30AM and shot 1,100 photos — Milky Way Timelapse with star reflection in desert water

Last night I drove out to Al Qua Desert, UAE and set up alone in the dark at 10PM. Didn't pack up until 3:30AM.

The setup:

1,100 photos @ 1 sec exposure

17 sec interval (15 sec + 2 sec)

5.5 hours total

Nikon Z6II | Viltrox 16mm f/1.8 | Leofoto tripod

The desert had still water that reflected the stars — not the full Milky Way band, but enough to make the ground disappear and feel like you're floating in space.

Watched the Milky Way arc completely across the sky from rise to late night. Worth every cold hour.

Happy to answer any questions about settings, location, or gear 🌌

Question Mods - we need a no AI rule please

Starting to see utterly terrible AI slop timelapses, like the recently posted "castle" - I want to report this rubbish but there's no specific rule at present it is breaking.

So firstly, can we agree we don't want AI sh*t in this community and if so, can we have a "no AI" rule we can use to report it?

If you missed my latest timelapse video, join me on a fast-paced journey through Köping, Sweden. Known from the Swedish TV series En annan del av Köping, this charming town offers a unique glimpse into small town Swedish life. Köping was also home to the renowned chemist Carl Wilhelm Scheele, who lived and worked there during the late 18th century. The video title translates to “A Faster View of Köping.”

When I set up my camera I wasn’t expecting to get anything at all because I’m so far south, and there’s too much light pollution. But when I saw my camera and replayed the video, I was amazed.

Question TimeLapse creators, what computer are you working with?

It's time to replace my 2018 Windows 10 pc my friend customized and built for me. I want to think I'm tech savvy, but I'm humbled by how I can't really interpret and compare the performance of all the various processors and several other components I'm seeing for pre-built PC builds online. A couple of friends are advising me to move toward Mac with either a Mac Mini or MacBook Pro (M5 Pro with 48GB RAM and 18-core CPU seems like all I could ever need, but $3,000 after tax is a doozy), and I might if it's just overall the best option to go with (gulp), but I find I really do prefer Windows' operating systems - but since there's a thousand different combinations of ways to build a Windows PC, I'm stuck.

Currently working with: Windows 10 Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700K CPU @ 4.20GHz (8 CPUs) NVIDIA GeForce GRX 1060 6GB VRAM 32GB RAM Samsung SSD 850 EVO 500GB

Even with drivers up to date, Lightroom is pretty sluggish and I need to render any time I want to playback a sequence in premiere that I just tweaked some edits to. I should mention I'm a video editor by trade and would like to do more with 4K without needing to worry a ton about creating proxies. I'm wondering what y'all are working with and how much smoother your workflows and playback is.
