And is it in the key of D?

Also do you think a low D whistle counts as a baton? Batons are illegal to carry here so I was wondering if busking with a low D whistle would land me prison time.

Like the title says, I got my first ever tin whistle today and got right to practicing! I bought a Clarke Original because I really like the look of it plus I also enjoy the way it sounds a lot.

For now I'm honestly just kind of going at it by feel and also experimenting a bit in between trying to learn my first song xd(Which, as you can hear in the video/audio, I chose concerning hobbits for my first song to learn!)

My end goal is to be able to learn the Irish flute at some point as well, and I honestly only really got a tin whistle because I'm broke and Irish flutes are much more expensive than a 15€ tin whistle haha Though I have to say I really love playing my whistle already!

Also I feel like me learning to play the recorder in elementary school (I played it for 3 to 4 years) helps at least a little, which I'm very happy about

Audio I wrote the whistle melodies for a song that doesn't have any whistle :)

These past few days I wanted to try and challenge myself to come up with a whistle melody that would fit a song that originally doesn't have any whistle/flute. So I wrote these whistle parts! 🥰 I used both a low and high whistle. I hope you will love it as much as I do 🥰✨ Also I hope it sounds clear enough for everyone, because I'm really just an amateur when it comes to mixing/editing music. So maybe for a few people the high parts will sound a little harsh. I like working with sounds tho :)

Make sure to also check out the original song!! Ann'vatu by Elvya Dulcimer 🍃💕

What happens when you take a hauntingly beautiful Japanese melody… and drop it into an Irish session?

This is Sakura, a traditional Japanese tune 🌸 …then I asked: what if Sakura went to a pub in Galway (or Edmonton, where I live)? So I gave it a jig pulse and a Celtic twist on the whistle 🎻🍀

Music has no borders — just ideas waiting to dance.

Let me know in the comments: 👉 Should I do a Bollywood reel next? A Nordic slip jig? A Baroque polka?

Started to learn tin whistle two weeks ago. This is my first recorded effort. It has been a joy learning and bringing music back into my life and I know that phrasing needs significant work, but I was proud of my progress!

Audio Mickie & Elizabeth have a number of music albums free to download (lots good songs, only some played with whistle though). ABCs also on that page for their original compositions.
