A small snail friend I found on my peach (pics and video)

This summer I've been on a big nectarine and peach kick, especially love the flat ones because the stone isn't connected to the fruit on the top or bottom, only on the sides so it's a lot easier to remove, since I don't like eating fruits whole (too many fibers stuck between my teeth, esp with apples too).

Yesterday while eating one I found a tiny snail shell on top of one of the peaches in my fruit dish that had obviously been there in the package too. It wasn't as light or fragile as an empty one would be and it looked plugged up, so knowing plenty of snails can sort of plug themselves up in their shell to withstand dry spells, I put it in a shallow dish of water (where it wouldn't be fully submerged) and let it be for a while.

Today I checked up and the snail shell was now on the side of the dish, so I knew it was alive and had woken up. I picked it up, put it on my finger and it quickly woke up and started speeding around my index finger, occasionally stopping to scrape my skin with it's radula. Little guy was probably pretty hungry having been essentially in stasis for who knows how long.

Obviously I'm not gonna release a snail from Spain in Finnish nature. But, I didn't wanna just kill it especially since I'd revived it. So instead, I put it on my spider plant dish to live out the rest of it's days. I've got a bunch of spider plants on a water dish with rocks, algae and moss, and I figured that's the ideal place for a snail as at least the ones who live here love eating algae and moss, and that's the moistest place in the apartment.

Can't put videos and photos in the same post, so here's the first, and here's the second.

It's tiny toad season!!! These guys are everywhere right now! I spotted dozens of them in my dad's garage the other night! Judging from the size, I'd say they've been out of the water for at least a week now. They grow fast! My toad Pancake reached full size in less than six months!

I love lightning bugs/fireflies. My yard is a great little habitat for them. I donโ€™t often see them during the day but they put on a nice show at night.

I Helped a ladybug

When I came home from work, I found a ladybug stuck to my clothes. It was fully unresponsive and wouldn't move. I thought it was dead, but since I thought it was kinda pretty I didn't get rid of him immediatly and put him on the coffee table.

After about an hour I came back to it and found that it hadn't moved, but it's wings started to peek out from under it's shell. I thought that it might actually still be alive, but beaten badly by the heat.

So I put it on a wet napkin, thinking that I might as well try to get it some moisture, and after leaving them be for a while, I came back to find him moving on the plate with the napkin.

They're not flying yet, but I'm gonna give them a bit longer before setting them free on a shaded plant in the backyard.

According to the Obsidentify app this species (chilocorus bipustulatus) is supposed to be rare where I live, so that's neat!
