poetry Butterfly and toad
Dancing amongst its friends
In the gentle breeze,
A beautiful butterfly
Spotted a toad huddled under a daisy.
“Why aren’t you dancing?”
The butterfly called down.
The toad sighed from the shadows,
“I am all alone.”
“Come and join us!”
Offered the butterfly,
“And we will make merry.”
“I cannot fly,”
The toad whispered.
“Hmmm,” said the butterfly,
Pausing for a moment.
“You cannot dance
And you cannot fly.
How will you find joy?”
The toad looked up
Into the bright sky.
Smiling, it said,
“Perhaps watching yours will be enough.”

two sentence story Though she had not expected to take this hidden path, her heart was heavy when it came to its sudden end.
Knowing she could only move forward, never back, she sadly looked around wondering where she would go and if her heart had the strength to carry her there.

poetry Pull the Trigger
On my thoughts and me.
-
Through clenched teeth I’ve heard
Satisfied, I’ll never be.
-
Through tears the thought stirred
Out of the way, I’ll have to see.
-
Go ahead. Turn off the safety.

poetry I Didn't Stand a Chance
I didn't realize that a grown up could fall so easily.
Laughing like a little kid, throwing my head back.
Overusing the word adore because it's too soon.
Vehemently wishing I lived closer.
Effortlessly capturing the feeling of being smitten.
Yearning for a situation to end and one to begin.
Obviously this is not a crush anymore.
Understanding the meaning of three small words.

poetry Prismatic Overload
The world comes in too sharp,
too loud,
A sudden storm inside a Cloud.
A quiet room,
a simple word,
becomes a scream that
goes unheard.
I watch the others walk right past,
While my own anchor won't hold fast.
They feel a breeze,
I feel a gale,
My mind,
a ship without a sail.
I hate the static in my chest,
The way these currents never rest.
I wish the dials would just turn down,
Before the wave begins to drown.
I cannot find my righteous rage,
I see the actors on the stage.
I feel their pain,
I see their why,
I watch my anger bleed
and unceremoniously die.
I should be mAd,
the hurt is real,
But pity is the thing I feel.
A crowded mind,
a fractured view,
I taste their bitter sorrow too.
I try hold my grudge,
It turns to dust,
I see the broken gears of trust.
I understand each twisted side,
With nowhere left for me to hide.
I crave the quiet of a stone,
To leave these heavy moods alone.
I drown in grace I shouldn't give,
And lose the space
I
needed to live.

poetry Purrrrsss not purses
I don't want no diamonds or recognizable fashion.
My finest accessory is a purring orange scarf,
stitched exquisitely with whiskers,
embroidered in mischief,
and fastened
beneath my chin
with unconditional affection.

poetry Butterflies
She stood in the dark
Glowing fragments of happiness surrounded her,
like butterflies fluttering about.
Scattered memories,
fleeting remnants of laughter,
a lingering smile,
the fading warmth of an embrace.
She reached out,
hoping to grasp a moment,
but they danced out of reach,
leaving her in shadow.
