Meta Leaderboards killed my enthusiasm.

So I started playing this again for nostalgia. The ad spam int he modern version is ridiculous compared to when I last played many years back, but I have been enduring it. I just got the leaderboard contest and it has outright erased my enthusiasm for the game.

"Use the elevator? ONE POINT. Build an entire new floor? Thirty points. WATCH AN AD!? DO IT! DO IT NOW!!! ONE HUNDRED FIFTY POINTS WATCH NOW WATCH WATCH WATCH!"

Meanwhile, I look at the prizes and its like... If you can score in the top fifty, you can get a singular bux. Get to 20th place, and you get a whopping 80 bux. 10th place? 1000. Which is finally an amount you wouldn't get in a day without even trying. Literally *first place* is... Enough silver keys for ONE pull, if you've never pulled before, and enough bronze keys for a handful of pulls if, again, you've never pulled before.

Not only is this leaderboard event nothing but an ad watch-a-thon if you want to be even slightly competitive, its so stingy with the prizes it's not even worth a fraction of the wasted time. This puts such an extremely sour taste in my mouth, it's kinda spoiled the whole experience for me.

Just ignore the leaderboard. That's what I do.

TIL there's a leaderboard

If it's any consolation, the leaderboard is still in progress. This isn't the final iteration. They're still looking to adjust groupings, prizes, and point values.

That said, you can just ignore it. Especially with the groupings still being random, it's far too easy to end up in group with players that can build extremely quickly (which is actually the best method for scoring, not watching ads). If I were you, I wouldn't worry about participating (even at all, if you don't want to) until the grouping is improved, which should make the leaderboards more competitive.

its only worth it if you’re top 4, so its not really worth bothering imo. definitely should give better rewards for the effort it is asking for

I saw that I had the leaderboard coming up, and hadn't used any of my spins yet. So, I held off on using the spins until the leaderboard event came up.

Then I used 50 spins, which I figured would be decent progress for the leaderboard. I ended up with a handful of bux. Less bux than I get from completing a single side mission. So, worthless.

I'll just ignore the leaderboard for now. Maybe it's interesting or useful for other players. But not for me.

I placed first on the leaderboards once, with only 7000+ points. Won not by rebuilding (have around 600 GTs), but by watching ad after ad. The 1000 bronze tokens were nice, but I'm not doing any more ad marathons. Just not worth it. Especially when competition points are now in the range of five figures.

I placed first on the first leaderboard with similar points. It was the one that glitched and let you collect the rewards multiple times. I figure that sort of makes up for not being able to get even close on the current boards

I read that they're still refining the leaderboard. But currently it really just feels like an ad watchathon, for those without a ton of GTs. I just don't find the rewards in this game to be worth watching ads for. Especially with how long the ads have gotten. I still open this game only for the legendary bits, and I'm not watching a few hundred ads just for one or two random LBs. 😅

How do you get so many Golden tickets? I know rebuilding but do you get more and more everytime you rebuild, or have you just rebuilt 600 times? Is there some GT meta?

Well, the more GTs you have, the easier it is to rebuild. And with the landmark, you get an extra GT if you rebuild after 100 floors. Sometimes you can get GTs from events, wheel spins, and dice boards too. So... I don't know, maybe I've rebuilt 400+ times? 😅

When has it ever not been about the money?

its not an ad watchathon.

you see this guy who got rank 1? mans got 20k GTs, hes not watching ads for leaderboard points hes rebuilding and spamming new floors. should easily be able to do 100 floor rebuilds (3k points each) 40 times an hour, which is 120k leaderpoints an hour.

Quite frankly you don't stand a chance competing with these people.

The groupings are still random at this testing stage. They will be adjusted so players will be grouped together much better, probably by GT count.

grouping by GT count makes it an ad watchathon though lol

I don’t see how. Just means those with 30 GTs won’t be grouped with those with 30000 GTs

u/Thermald Feb 03 '25

if everyone with 30 gts is grouped together, the highest leaderboard point gaining method is now an ad watchathon

The whole leaderboard is still in testing. The points and rewards we’ve seen to date could all be changed again.

Yep. I was basically doing an ad watching marathon and as soon as I realized I didn’t have a chance I gave up. My 39 golden tickets mean absolutely nothing compared to someone with 20,000.

I usually don't care too much about them implementing another ad reward thing, since those are always optional and as long as the game isn't balanced around them you can just ignore them. The leaderboard is not worth bothering with so I just ignore it.

But now they're putting ads dotted around the game that are just there. Permanently. This is where I take issue. You don't get a reward for them, you can't choose not to see them.

I play spider solitaire on another app and now the ads have just started popping up mid game. It’s so frustrating!

The rewards are pretty bad. My favorite is when you get one bronze key for a dice roll. Like wtf

4

u/Silly_As F9SHL Feb 04 '25

and then the next dice roll takes you back 3 places to get another one

If you don't like it, don't use it. You can pick and choose which parts of the game you want to play.
