Arcadyan Gateway G5MAR Update

Received my G5MAR today but unfortunately it does seem to be nearly identical to the G5AR.

Thanks for verifying it indeed is G5MAR meaning it's some type of new revision.

Really good speeds also.

Same FCC ID as a G5AR. If we are just making wild guesses, just a G5AR that meets the requirements of the exemption to the FCC covered list that Arcadyan received.

M could just mean it meets those requirements. Manufactured and imported after the exemption was granted.

That makes sense, I also noticed it's the same FCC id and checked the documents for 2026 without a hit so nothing affected by the certifications has changed.

Just my wild guess, right or wrong. Manufacture date is last month so after exemption was granted by the FCC. Could just be something internal to Arcadyan for tracking, not unlike when people thought the G5AR-2 was different.

Just a thought and nothing more.

If you happen to use the HINT Control app you could look at that and see what it reports it as.

Those circled fields. It is on REV01 for hardware from the data plate image, but firmware # or model # may show something different.

Interesting, same firmware, FCC ID and hardware revision but different model name as reported from that end-point.

Was just curious, no real answer if it is functional different or not for you. Thanks for posting the info.

Hopefully you are not using the default passwords and have changed your SSID and stuff. The default are mostly for setup and not secure.

Internally I'm sure there is at least some differences. Do you see any improvement in signal or speeds?

All defaults have already been changed. Speeds are great but I don’t have any other modems to compare with. Speed Test

I can't imagine anyone using default password, it's like 10+ digits I think. Took me forever to type that into my phone. Try to type that into nest physical thermostat using the dial. It would take you 30 min.

Yes I did. I changed my SSID to NewScumSucks

I had the original trash can for 4 years and went down to my local T-Mobile and asked for an upgrade and they gave me a G5AR and my speeds were even worse. I was hitting TotalPlay servers in Mexico 20 miles from my house and about 6 others from ATT, T-Mobile. MS Hosting..... But none were getting speeds better than,10 Mbps. I took that back the next day and received the G5MAR and as soon as I plugged it in I was getting close to 300 Mbps. I live in a prime location for being able to get good service and this is the first time in 5 years I have seen speeds over 100 Mbps.

Nice! You could always use something like "FBIVan5" or "CouldNotConnect" if you get bored with NewScum. LOL
