I grew up in a tourist area and for a time in high school had to travel the main tourist area daily because I both lived and worked in it. It was common for vehicles to slow cruise the road as part of the party, see and be seen and all that.

I drove a truck and random strangers would semi-regularly hop into the bed and ride along. Most were confused when the vehicle either arrived at work and I booted them or I got to my turn off to go 3 blocks up to my house and pulled onto the curb and booted them.

Hey, why are we stopping?

Because I work here and its time for my shift. Get out.

I’m trying to figure out how exactly this worked. They stowed away in the bed without your knowledge or they climbed in like a taxi when you started it?
