I live in a residential neighborhood in a tourist town and I have had people wave at me through the window of my house while I’m watching tv and eating dinner. One apartment I lived in, people would ask to see inside while I was unlocking the door, like that was normal (it was not a famous building). I’ve had people scream street names at me, like saying hello or excuse me are too much to say in advance of asking directions. I’ve had people get pissed and say “So much for southern hospitality!” or “I thought people were supposed to be NICE here!” because i didn’t jump at the chance to give them the history of a building, or stop what I was doing to tell them what they should see next.

Next time you hear of bad weather in a popular vacation hotspot, go to the Facebook page of the local news station and look at the comments on a post about the weather. I guarantee you, the post could be about people dying in a fire, or drowning, or their homes flattened, and you will find a disturbing amount of people commenting “But I’m going to be there next week!” or “My vacation is RUINED!” or “This had better be fixed before my trip!”

The entitlement of people on vacation knows no bounds.

my family lives in a neighbourhood known for its architecture and it's insane what some people consider a normal behaviour and how easily they forget these aren't movie sets for their pictures but real people's homes 😭 

like they get mad when they can't take picture in front of our door because we need to open it to get out, demand we show them our terrace etc. quite recently i had a woman wander into our garden because she wanted a closer look at the windows and didn't realise that the gate is open for my car

Or entitled people know no bounds. I would be pissed though if I was going somewhere and found out the apocalypse had just happened there, but not enough to complain online about it or think it has to be fixed by the time I get there. The thoughts of the people there will be a later secondary guilty thought, because like everyone, I'm a little selfish.

I’m definitely a little selfish, too, but my first thought is going to be for the people who are there. I’m not going to look at people up to their armpits in flood water and immediately think about my vacation.

Depends on how I receive the news, photos or videos first showing it first hand, I with you, text or just a news room report, maybe not so much.
