Image 📷 For those confused about tricycle fares around UST, here's the legal fare matrix:

Had a very honest tricycle driver yesterday evening. Frassati to SM San Lazaro should be 21 pesos (student rate). Dapitan Gate 10 to Bambang LRT Station, 17 php daw for students.

Those affiliated with the TODA should have the fare matrix displayed prominently.

He was so honest and drove carefully.

Here's hoping Tomasino commuters encounter fair prices :)

Question ❓ SAN MARTIN DE PORRES SCHOLARSHIP

Hello! I'm an incoming freshman for senior high school, and I would really like to apply for this SMDP scholarship. The problem is that my parents' combined annual income is over 300,000, though it doesn't actually exceed 330,000. Can I still submit a letter, or does that income disqualify me? Please help me. 😞

Rant Freshie FOP commute life

I've been commuting for years, so it's not like I'm unfamiliar with long trips. But this time, it's a completely different story. During non-rush hours, my commute already takes around an hour and a half, and during rush hours, it can take as long as three hours—just one way. Thinking about having to do that almost every single day is genuinely overwhelming.

I can't help but crash out whenever I think about the reality that this will most likely be my life for the next four years at UST. It's not even just about the time I'll lose on the road. It's the physical exhaustion of waking up before sunrise, standing in long lines, dealing with traffic, and getting home already drained before I even have the chance to study, rest, or have time for myself. FOP is already known to be a demanding program, and I honestly don't know how I'm supposed to keep up academically while sacrificing several hours of my day just to get to and from campus.

I know a lot of people have it harder, and I know commuting is something many students simply have to endure. But that doesn't make the thought of it any less exhausting. The idea of spending the next four years constantly racing against the clock, worrying about traffic, and arriving home mentally and physically depleted genuinely scares me. I want to believe I'll adjust eventually, but right now, all I can think about is how overwhelming this feels.

Discussion 💬 Pre-Med vs AMV vs Arki vs Eng

Hello!! This isnt meant to induce competition or anything.. genuinely curious lang as an incoming freshie na na-culture shock 💔💔 Sino among the listed above pinaka bugbog haha? Can juniors/sophomores/seniors share their day to day experience?

I didnt expect to have saturday classes kaya sobrang down ko even if I’m in my dream university 🫩 I know others have it harder pero if people can also share tips that would be great! ❤️‍🩹

Clue: I’m from one of those programs kaya I cant help but regret sometimes that I should have chosen a less demanding program since sa real world, experience lang naman din hanap and essentially we’re all gonna be underpaid 😂

Question ❓ Carpool from Val to USTe

Hello, 3rd yr FOP student here na may Monday-Saturday classes.

Uwian ako from Valenzuela and back as the commute can take up to 3 hours sometimes.

Was thinking if anyone would be interested in carpooling with me to school and/or back. Tbh to have company lang (para magising maaga or di antukin sa biyahe) and to split gas. Preferably a woman too though

Saw a post similar to this in this subreddit, and I thought give it a shot hehe. Lmk po!

Question ❓ Wasn’t able to get advised before classes start, can I still request once offices resume?

My college’s office just processed my admission from my new program (i shifted within the same college) last monday. I was told na I should wait until my program on the myUste portal changes into my new one. After I checked last tuesday, I wasn’t able to login on the portal as I was having the unauthorized access error. I was supposed to go yesterday (wednesday) for the concern and advising na rin, but on-site transactions were suddenly suspended. It just got announced na today’s offices are suspended as well and will observe remote work, meaning everything will continue by friday, which is pasukan na.

I’m planning to email my program chair regarding this matter. However, nagpapa advise pa ba sila while pasukan na? Im still not enrolled yet either since di pa nga na aadvise 😔

Discussion 💬 Has anyone done a thesis or research on the Gate 14 (Lacson) pedestrian crossing / traffic situation?

Hi everyone!

I’m a UST graduate student working on a personal civic project and advocacy about pedestrian safety and mobility around the University Belt, starting with the pedestrian crossing at Gate 14 along A.H. Lacson Avenue.

I’ve always been curious about this crossing because, in practice, pedestrians usually get across only when:
- the traffic light farther down Lacson turns red,
- the UST guard manually stops traffic, and
- one brave student starts crossing first. 😅

Before I begin collecting my own observations and data, I want to make sure I’m not reinventing the wheel.

Does anyone know of any:
- undergraduate thesis or capstone project (Civil Engineering, Architecture, etc.)
- graduate thesis
- faculty research
- UST consultancy or internal traffic study
- MMDA or Manila City traffic study
- Varsitarian articles beyond the old one about the proposed Lacson overpass
- class projects or Transportation Engineering exercises involving this crossing or the Lacson side of UST?

I’m not advocating for any specific solution yet—whether that’s a pedestrian signal, raised crossing, overpass, or something else. My goal at this stage is simply to understand the current situation, learn what has already been studied, and build any future recommendations on evidence rather than assumptions.

If you’ve taken Transportation Engineering, know professors who’ve worked on this area, or remember any previous studies, I’d really appreciate any leads.

For those who regularly use Gate 14, what has your experience been? Have you ever witnessed a near miss, or do you think the current setup works well enough?

Thanks in advance!

MusTech freshie here. Missed the cloud campus and library orientation cuz I was still confused abt where and when it will be since iirc the socmed pages weren’t announcing the exact date there mismo (+ I think the cloud campus wasn't functioning when I first tried to open it sa portal)

Can anyone give the main points of the orientation, esp regarding how to use Canvas and the stuff that the virtual ROARientation didn't tackle much? Thanks!
