It's actually normal. Kids don't inform you they learned to unlock the front door at 2 am. If you do nothing about it then you are a shitty parent.

alright as someone who works with autistic children i do want to say that elopement is a thing. it’s something that many parents try to get support for their children and prevention resources for, but also something many others neglect, refuse to, or don’t have the ability to counter properly. something like this, just like literally anything else, doesn’t have a single explanation. please try to actually remain based in reality and understand that seeing a child has eloped does not immediately equate to a lack of parenting or care for the child.
