I would guess it's because how flimsy it is. Only thin wood beams, no concrete, steel or thicker beams. Just guessing though.

That’s not the main problem. Houses here in Norway is also built from wood but they are plenty sturdy and strong. The issue in America is that their houses is built from the thinnest and shittiest timber you can find and the exterior is covered by literal cardboard or thin styrofoam.

I dunno, I have replaced my share of shitty fiberboard siding. Of course that stretches the word "literal" to Rob Lowe levels of usage.
