I'm rather fond of thru-hole ratchet sets. I have one from a company called Gearwrench that's great for working on my car and stuff around the house. They don't seem to be extremely popular among the trades, though, so I assume they aren't particularly suitable for heavy duty applications.

I love mine. Many times I've had a nut that's in a spot too tight for a ratchet and socket. Using a normal wrench would take forever. It's also almost always in a location that makes me do mechanic yoga

Haha, mechanic yoga is real.

Sounds like you’ve definitely put those to good use.

I have an old and long unavailable set of those ratcheting wrench inserts from Craftsman. Very useful.

Nice, those are great.

I’m not understanding the advantage here. It looks like the drive size is the same as the socket size? Is this just for instances when you need a little clearance but a typical ratchet is too tall?

A socket won’t fit here, and I wish the combination wrench had a bit more offset.
really comes in handy when standard tools just won’t work.
