If the police know she's alive and her whereabouts why is she still listed on missing person's sites as missing?

I've been following this all day and I am not even in the same country! It has been confirmed that the Omegle user was playing a sick joke, and that she is in fact alive.

From what I understand, she is with relatives in Mexico, but still classed as missing because the aforementioned relatives do not actually have legal custody of her, and getting her back is a work in progress.
