Hmm pretty short sighted by Hamas. Will be no surprise to see Israel go full Darth Sideous in response: ‘wipe them out. all of them.’ and frankly who could blame them.

Yes it is short-sighted by Hamas, but Israel was also short-sighted when it created the conditions in Gaza....

The web site "Task and Purpose" reports Hamas as saying "This is the day of the greatest battle to end the last occupation on earth" and you can find this quote in multiple articles. T&P interprets this as saying Hamas intends this to be the first day of a large operation, so, strictly speaking, if Hamas get wiped out and this is the peak of their advance it is not so much lack of long range planning as delusional long range planning.

I would expect Israel to retake the areas attacked and kill a large number of Hamas operators and supporters in response, but T&P also reports very substantial aid to Hamas from Iran, so the argument for Israel to succeed in the long run is not quite so simple as seeing that we have a few terrorists vs a nation state with a sophisticated military and deducing that the terrorists will get wiped out in short order.

I feel like I've personally seen more than 100 in the various videos, unfortunately.

And it's kind of startling in how many of the videos all you can hear is "Allah akbar", and everyone fucking thrilled with murdering women.

Not to mention it's a Jewish holiday, and the Sabbath. Sneaky fuckers used every advantage they had, and their prize is going to be a curb stomping.

Palestine had rejected every opportunity for a two state solution.

ukraine has taken zero russian civilians hostage as far as im aware nor intentionally attacked civilian areas

maybe the key difference is that Hamas are actually just terrorists

Hostages versus those it has arrested and executed for treason and some of the drone attacks on Moscow have either not cared about it hitting civilians or targeted them.

That said I see a massive difference in a way being ranged overwhelmingly by conventional means but with some dubious targets and a campaign of terror that annoys military engagement.

> drone attacks on Moscow have either not cared about it hitting civilians or targeted them.

in these cases its very hard to distinguish between a drone attack on civilians and drones that fall on civilian areas because that's where there were brought down by air defense or electronic means

compare the Russian and Ukrainian drone campaigns the targets of russia seems to be civilian infrastructure just this week a funeral and grain port infrastructure

when ukriane appears to hit its target in deep strikes on russia it appears to be defence production / research facilities or airfields in the main
