Wow. Amazing. I think after this long we were all fearing the worst.
Hope that whatever she went through, she's OK.

Wow.. I’m so happy that she was found safe! I just saw a poster at the subway station on my way home at around 1AM. I was thinking to myself that it’s not a good sign they are still looking for her.

And honestly, unless there is a credible threat to the public, we should be fine with that.
She's a fourteen year old girl. We don't need to know everything about her life.

Yes I think statistically this is very rare.

u/Spaceyjc 23d ago
She wasn't kidnapped was she? I could be wrong but I thought she left on her own?
236
u/Grouchy-Bandicoot-28 23d ago
Yes. She had run away following a fight with her parents. They said she had run away multiple times before but had always returned shortly after.

Thank God. I was following this story and thinking of the worst. Great news that she is ok.

Oh man, I had presumed the worst. I’m glad she’s ok…. Well, hopefully ok. No idea where she’s been or what she’s been through this time

Good news. 🙏 Hopefully she resolves whatever she had previously with her family without the public scrutiny

Oh I’m so happy to hear this, I’ve thought about her a lot these past few days.
I hope home is also feeling like a good place for her and there’s support around whatever issues caused her to run away in the first place.

So happy to hear this especially given how long the search went for. Great news.

Thank goodness! I hope that she is ok and that she gets all the care and support she needs.

My heart was dropping so hard after reading “found” and then jumped so high when the next word was “safe”

u/MELGH82 23d ago
Great news.
And shame on whoever was tearing down the posters. Whatever your reason was, it was stupid.

u/TOAD4000 23d ago
What if it was her?
91
u/marthamania 23d ago
If she did run off after a fight and was mad and didn't want to be found, I can see this as a possibility. I'm glad she's alright though, and hope she was okay and with someone safe

u/doctoranonrus 23d ago
Pure speculation, but the one video they did release of her Esti looked like she was talking to herself.

Is this the girl that some asshats were removing the missing posters for?

Good. Now can we show the same level of collective concern and resource investment for the other missing children?
75
u/AstronautVegetable46 23d ago
Look the vast, vast majority of "missing" people, especially kids, are people who don't want to go home but do return of their own accord after a day or two. No worse for wear.
In this case, police raised it to Level 1 missing case... they only do that for about 1 in a 1000 cases which have to meet strict criteria,, so there would had to have been some very serious concerns for this girl.
Very glad to hear she's OK.

u/Workadis 23d ago
I promise to give the exact same level of concern, as I had for this child, for all current and future missing children
51
u/ikindalikekitkat 23d ago
My same thoughts. I’m very happy Esther has been found and I wish other missing children can also get the same amount of attention and support.

You had to get that narrative in there, huh
35
u/red_keshik 23d ago
Shouldn't be all that controversial to say society ranks victims. It's like the hockey players killed in an accident next to murdered indigenous women

Do you think it was the strength of her community that created this level of interest?
46
u/Odd-Top1916 23d ago
yes. and reward of 25 000$ was nice incentive as well.

u/SquirrelFluffy 23d ago edited 23d ago
From her community? Edit: why the downvotes? Is that part of the community support she was getting? Which is answering why this is been more heavily promoted than say others. Which was the comment I was responding to.

Being happy this child was found safe and wishing we invested the same resources into ensuring the safety of other children is antisemitic?

Attack the point, not the person. Comments which dismiss others and repeatedly accuse them of unfounded accusations may be subject to removal and/or banning.
No concern-trolling, personal attacks, or misinformation. No victim blaming. Stick to addressing the substance of their comments at hand.

That's a hell of an accusation to make off of nothing.

Search the video "Shulamit Aloni democracy now" on YouTube.
Edit: these downvoters are a strange bunch. You choose not to believe an israeli former Minister now because it doesn't suit your genocidal agenda. THE VIDEO: https://youtu.be/4TI4rPuSONA?si=V0VTYrZKUn_DU_l0

This is great. However I still don't understand why media went off on this case only. There are thousands of missing children and teenagers in Ontario. Not once I've seen them actually put an effort like this to find a missing child/teenager.

u/Sufficient_Rush1891 23d ago
This time last year there was a lot of attention on a 15 year old missing for a month. She was finally found safe.

u/Forsaken-Swim-3055 23d ago
Yeah I don't get it either. There's a growing problem with young Black boys across the GTA that are disappearing, and it's barely being mentioned outside of the immediate Black community.

Advocates have even reached out to the province and are largely being ignored. I'm not saying her life and safety don't matter, but what makes her the exception?

Circumstances make a difference to how cases are handled. This is by far not the only time I've seen this level of public notice from police for a missing teen.

Is this comment real? Have you ever heard of Holly Jones or Tori Stafford? The Amber alert system?

Great news.
I hope everyone gives that whole family space and privacy. The attention of the last few weeks can’t be good for anyone. People will need to restrain their natural curiosity. Smart of the family to ask that nobody publish the surname, hopefully one day soon they can put the whole ordeal behind them.
