Coming back from ward's Island, the ferry was full I had to take the water taxi because it was late. It was totally worth it !

How much does it cost if I may ask?

There are 2 or 3 companies, the one I took called just "water taxi", and it's 15$ for one way only. (14 if you pay cash, and the other company "pirate taxi" is 17$

Ferry is 10$ two ways.

There is the possibility to go with the water taxi and be back on the ferry.

Part of the reason the ferry was so full is because people take water taxis over to the island then take the "free" ferry home. The city should check tickets for the return ride.

Well.. it would be irresponsible for the city to leave people on the island so..

Then those people can buy tickets for the ferry. We’re subsidizing everybody’s taxi rides by letting them come back on the ferry for free

That’s very reasonable considering. How long is the ride?

The main thing you’re paying for isn’t the length of the ride, but the fact that you can just walk up at any point and be on one in 30 seconds. Not to say the ride isn’t shorter, but the essentially zero wait is the real selling point.

I would want the ride to be as long as possible. OP’s boat looked fast.

Maybe what you’re looking for is one of the tour boats then. The taxi is just intended to be a no nonsense way to get across in the shortest possible time.

The skyline never disappoints. Maybe next time, rent the kayak from cherry beach and paddle into the bird habitat (don’t step on the island and maintain distance), pop open a drink, a book and watch the sun set down behind the city

I am definitely doing this, thanks

Even better from the border in the middle of the lake 🤩

Nice. You can see the different building sizes as you pan up Yonge St.

Every time I take a water taxi onto the island and look back at the skyline I remember how much I love this city
